A property directly across from the current Red Hat/future convention center is for sale. I believe this was upzoned several years back. 424 South McDowell looks like the empty space between Poole’s and the Parking deck. Is that what the article is saying? Can you confirm it? ---

It looks like it’s everything except Poole’s. The quoted below is from the TBJ. " The two parcels form a U-shape around the building where [Ashley Christensen’s Poole’s Diner](https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2025/08/14/pooles-diner-double-horseshoe-counter-christensen.html) is. The property that Poole’s Diner is on is not for sale. Any development would be built around the Poole’s Diner building. " ---

Here in Virginia Beach, we appreciate the QR code parking by license plate. It’s truly a convenience and typically much less expensive than when the deck/lots are doing flat rates for the day ($25,$40,$50 for a day pass). Its great when you finally park the car up don’t gotta touch a dirty machine to pay for parking, you can just snap a pic and pay as you walk. Kane is doing the Lords work from my perspective. Go to any major city. Not a single for-profit entity in their right mind would invest millions in parking infrastructure to make $0000 indefinitely. ---

Semi related but I was just in San Antonio and their parking is absolutely insane. Pay to park lots everywhere without an amenity in sight. Street parking is free after 6 but NOT advertised on signs so I parked in a lot with qr code since street parking was full. Started walking towards the spot I chose for dinner while filling out my vehicle/parking info - it was $25 for 1.5 hours. I went back to my car and drove across town to free parking land to spend less than that on dinner and 2 beers. I found all QR parking to have insane rates for the lack of density in offerings there.
