I hear they are going to renovate it to include a coffee shop with a splash pad, and brewpub with a water slide, and a nightclub with its own Monkey Joe’s, to ensure a family friendly atmosphere.
Hopefully they will incorporate some dedicated stroller parking for when we bring the kids.
Teen takeovers..step aside.
Toddler takeovers are here to steal the headlines.
that is good to know. I wonder given its age, if it has asbestos? Honestly maybe lease it as hotel to private developer or use an office building for local government offices?
You guys were all worried for nothing - not a child in sight!!!
Swung by Flower Cottage for a friends and family thing and took a few photos. It’s suuuper nice. Sounds like they’ll be open to the public in 2 weeks. Forgot to take a pic of the lower bar area, but that has fans for the heat and should have plenty of shade in the afternoon. I heard they also asked Shibumi to donate some of their new park shades for the field in front of the cottage.
And here’s where the playground equipment will go. (This is to the right of the front entrance.) It’ll be nice wooden structures similar to what’s at Gipson. And for y’all kid-haters, good news is that this won’t go in until fall, so you’ll have a few months to enjoy beforehand.
I already see 2 unruly kids climbing on a wooden structure ![]()
Great pics, lovely space. Fantastic view of the skyline too!
I can’t wait to bring my kids here.
Bringing my infant tomorrow
Please encourage him/her to run around.
This is an 11/10 addition to the park. Kudos to the owners for designing such a thoughtful space.
Agreed. I went on Friday night. Soft serve ice cream upstairs, coffee/wine/beer bar upstairs, plenty of seating upstairs/on the deck/on the lawn, small “amphitheater” area for live music/stadium seating, and a full outdoor bar downstairs as well. This is the type of place you’d take out-of-town visitors to in order to show them something that’s genuinely great in Raleigh. Looking forward to checking it out again soon.
