This isn’t development related strictly speaking, but I think there is a relationship, because having events downtown helps make the area desirable which drives demand for more development. Anyway, SPARKcon is this weekend. It is a fun free event celebrating creativity. My favorite part is the sidewalk art. Lots of activities, vendors, food trucks, etc as well. In the past, this event was on Fayetteville Street, but this year it is in the Warehouse District. I think the move worked well. The creative vibe feels like a natural fit for that part of downtown. I also know some people and businesses complain about Fayetteville being shut down so often, so this spreads things to another part of downtown, but keeps the urban feel. > **[SPARKcon](https://sparkcon.com/)** > > SPARKcon is the Triangle creativity festival! VAE Raleigh uses an open-source platform to allow the entire community to be involved and drive the creative narrative. Join us the third weekend of September for a creative explosion! ---
