I mean a shitty Mexican place that’s the same as every other shitty Mexican place. In Columbia it’s called Monterrey. In Charleston it’s La Hacienda. You’ve been to one you’ve been to them all. They serve a purpose but that’s about it

we have 1 “shitty” american mexican place downtown and 10 taco places, why you feel the need to be such a snob about food idk. Would downtown be better if rodeo which has been there forever closed and the 11th taco joint within a mile opened? sounds terrible to me
We visit El Rodeo 10x more than all those fake taco places combined. Chips, salsa, beer and Mexican, it doesn’t need to be complicated.

I don’t think anyone is wishing El Rodeo away - the opposite, in fact; those that are calling it a “shitty Mexican restaurant” still admit it has its place. Me? I’d eat at any of them, happily. But it is sloppier than, say, Chido Taco. But some people like sloppy plates that come with endless free chips and salsa. I certainly do. Some people prefer more authentic “street taco” style - I love those, too. Don’t think anyone is being a “snob” here.

The street style tacos I had there last week were pretty good. Then again, I have 
taste apparently.
