Heritage Park Development

I thought this was a phased rebuild! Looks like they are all going down though.

I hear that there were a lot of problems with those old buildings, and they probably didn’t want to have those fester while construction was going on. They’d just sit there and mildew and cause environmental issues.

Tear everything down, eventually build stuff in phases. Maybe. It’s the Raleigh way! :joy:

You have to go through all of the Raleigh project phases, and the temporary gravel parking lot is on brand! :upside_down_face:

Jokes aside, I’m actually all for it in this case. Those buildings have become such an eyesore. A gravel lot or hopefully even some grass would be a vast improvement while they work on building the different parcels over the next few years, especially as residents start to move in to the completed parts.

Yeah, I was just being sarcastic. If a building is a problem, it needs to be raised. When they tear down these old buildings downtown, the mold and mildew smells are horrendous from the rubble.

Trees and rubble….trees and rubble. Waiting for construction to begin.

I’m holding my tongue on this whole thing. Just insanely disappointed that THAT^ is what’s replacing this huge plot of land immediately adjacent downtown / other super-dense and tall developments. It’s just so depressingly suburban and could’ve truly extended downtown towards Dix park like no other plot of land can.

Excellent job holding your tongue, especially for someone that never overreacts or dabbles in hyperbole.

You get a gold star :star:

IMO, we should build suburban style development in the other 148 square miles of the city that are already suburban.
