Does Malik actually own anything in DTS?? My read has been that its all Kane. And the fact that there’s been so little info, details, anything about the stadium after all these years that maybe there’s not really a ‘partnership’ and its more of a ‘hey we’ll let you know if we get around to it at some point’. On the other hand, if Malik has actually invested money in the stadium plan at DTS and there’s still been no movement maybe that’s even worse.
Yeah @UncleJesse come on… that’s my thing!!!
Malik has a lot more money invested in DTS then Kane does.
No wonder they haven’t delivered anything
Malik owns the land. Partnered with KANE for the development
so soccer at DTS and maybe MLB near Lenovo…does anyone suffer?
From what I’ve heard, the view bar at Lenovo will not be open for probably most, if not the entire season. Not sure why they kept booking concerts throughout the summer when they should have been prioritizing renovations. They lost 400 seats for canes games, but the view bar would make up for most of that as about 200 seats will be back and SRO.
Im starting to hate this city. Everything is backwards.
Welcome to the club, Malik is similar to Donald Trump and the USFL except he folded a team not an entire league. Malik just bad at it, Dundon is our only hope. Government is not to blame at all there for MLB they were for MLS we just had the wrong guy in charge with soccer.
D1 men’s ncaa soccer tournament bracket has been released. Finals are in Cary, & the state of NC has six teams in the field. Shows NC could definitely support two MLS teams! ![]()
CNBC released estimated valuations of NHL teams. They have the Carolina Hurricanes valued at $2.0 billion, which is 15th out of 31 teams.
Remarkably, the Canes’ valuation is up a whopping 53% from last year! That is the most of any team. Most team valuations rose between 10% and 20%. The article doesn’t give a reason for the unusually high increase in valuation for the Canes and it is so out of the normal distrubtion that I kind of wonder if it is a mistake. If this is anywhere near accurate, it is pretty cool to see little ol’ Raleigh’s team at about an average valuation, well ahead of the team values for a lot of bigger markets.
CNBC's Official NHL Team Valuations 2025: Here's how the 32 franchises stack up
It pays to be one of the better teams in the league, huh??? Thank you Dundon for turning this team around. They were supposedly hot shit RIGHT before my family moved here, having won a Stanley Cup just a few years prior, but for the longest time I only knew that my new home (and only) professional sports team was one of the worst
… and that was coming from NY where we had the (at the time) league-embarassment Buffalo Bills and the BIG OL’ MEH Sabres.
I’d guess it’s related to all the renovations to the Lenovo center. The article talked about stuff like premium seating, food & bev, and sponsorships. Lenovo naming rights too.
The Wolfpack makes it 5 in a row over the Heels after destroying them tonight 42-19. Go Pack! ![]()
Front Office Sports is now reporting the same.
Dundon currently owns 100 percent of the Hurricanes, which is very unusual for a team in one of the big four leagues. He initially bought a majority stake in the team in 2018 at a valuation of $800 million, so $2 billion would be … quite the rise in valuation! But if Dundon is selling a “significant” limited partner stake to fund his purchase (along with others) of the Portland Trail Blazers, that does suggest that maybe he’s running low on capital to fund his passion for purchasing pro sports franchises.
Shhhhhh plz don’t tell this to MLB!!!
I knew something g would happen I think MLB remains a pipe dream.
His net worth is less than ~$2B, he bought the Trailblazers for $4.25B. I don’t think it’s a surprise he and the rest of the group are moving some of his pieces around on the board to work things out, nobody thought he was just going to write a check.
