The Bend, Trophy Brewing expansion on Morgan Street

nice
West Morgan st. has become one of my favorite sub-districts. With Gussies, Wolf and Porter, and Irregardless tight together, and I believe there’s a space being renovated in that same block. Add the Bend and trophy Pizza and in my opinion it’s on par with the Person st. corridor

Hot take: I love Trophy’s beer and the general vibe, but I can’t stand their pizza. Way too big and greasy and doughy.

This development looks amazing, though!

You know what this area needs? A comedy club…

" A third concept in the works"

Didn’t they already say the 3rd “concept” is … a coffee shop?? lol I distinctly remember they said 1: Food (second SoB location), 2. Bar, 3. Coffee

Yeah I thought the bar was supposed to be a coffee shop/bar. Still think a 3rd concept was in the works in the last announcement. Who knows… Lol

It’s definitely not top 10 pizza in DTR…

Depends who you ask. Some of y’all have terrible pizza taste. :joy:

The first building, assumedly the TBD establishment, is currently the construction office, and thus not really renovated yet.

These feel like the kinda of things that make East Nashville pop…
Not surprised that it’s this local group (Trophy) doing it as it stiches together a path connecting their other entities BUT, it’s still very worth celebrating. This stretch from Gussies through to Wye Hill / Block 83 are going to make up a nice little district ( crawl ).

Very excited for this project. Wolfe & Porter and Gussies are two of my favorite recent additions to the Triangle. Looks like another bar is going into the yellow house between W&P and Gussies as well.

Any idea what that yellow one will be? I’ve been trying to figure it out for some time now.

No idea. I tried looking up ownership on iMaps earlier and saw it was owned by an LLC. Has a local lawyer listed as the person who filed the LLC paperwork, but nothing I could find from a few quick Google searches.

Feel like nothing happened in that space for a while after the ramp was built, but when I walked by ~2 weeks ago, there were some metal bar taps up close to the front window.

They were definitely working on the interior on Saturday.

Love to see it! I’ve been living near this area for a couple years and this little corner of Raleigh is getting quite cozy!. Hopefully Morgan St will get a revamp and widen the sidewalks a bit. Now if the old Goodnights location could just find a suitor…

You had to remind me of the Goodnight’s building… pit… now I’m mad again

Also welcome!

I really like Trophy’s stuff but The Bend project just makes me think of a Cornerstone for 30 year olds. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised and will definitely check it out once it’s open.

A little disappointed they went with the dark/black exterior aesthetic on what are basically repurposed SFH. I have a feeling it will look really dated in 10 years once the fad ends.

I think it depends on what hours they keep, the price point, and what they serve. The Trophy related business around downtown seems to cater to a wide variety of people. Until I see differently, I wouldn’t expect any less here.

As far as the colors, it’s obviously a personal preference. I love it on here and other buildings. But then again I’m on my 7th black sedan in 20 years… For what it’s worth, I’ve seen wooden colonial houses from the late 1700s all over Massachusetts over the last 25 years painted a variety of dark colors. Even in Oakwood and elsewhere here there’s a number of dark or bold colors. I don’t know if it’s a fad, but I do see new expensive homes popping up with similar color schemes over by Ridgewood, downtown Cary, Village District, and New Bern. So it may very well be trending too.

It’s the original color for many Victorians but it’s also 100% a trend that will look very “2020s” on a lot of buildings, much like the seafoam green.

I find it pretty grim looking on a lot of buildings if they don’t have some offsetting trim, personally. Not exactly a joyful color.
