Imagine if that corner you’ve pictured was the entrance to a beautiful new restaurant space… or a Gucci store! Or… anything other than an absolutely gigantic lobby :upside_down_face:

A daytime coffee shop/restaurant. This would have been a much better relocation corner of Cafe Carolina when they moved from their old spot in the Village. Every time I go to their new location at Clark & Oberlin, it’s more than half empty. In their old location, I always waited in a line and fought to find a seat.

They really need to bury some power lines in this area. Even cropping out what I could, it’s still a lot.

I really appreciate the dash of character they added on those bottom level windows and distinguishing the bottom facade from the bulk of the building

Fully agree, some kind of small coffee shop situation would be fantastic there

I worked in one of Quality Oil’s hotels (in Winston) after college. Even in a lower-end hotel, Quality as the developer/owner didn’t cut any corners. They also treated their employees very well. While not my ultimate career, it was nice to be part of the Quality Oil family for a few years.

We had a nice first visit to Mr Henry’s this weekend after the holiday parade. The orange drink was one of the most unique cocktails I’ve ever had. Reminded me of a vinaigrette, but in the best way. Coriander infused tequila, carrot juice, and some other stuff. Plus they had a cool bathroom.

Does anyone know when this hotel is scheduled to open?

Happened to have looked earlier this week when walking by and seeing the brick work had progressed to the final “front” facade.

Owner site doesn’t say. But the Hilton (Curio Collection) site now projects May 2026 (was April about a month ago) but is not yet accepting reservations.

Love the bathroom, and the martini. Mr Henry is my official default now for cocktails — great environment

Pictures from my :man_biking: ride through Oberlin yesterday after work. This seems like an exciting development: The Holt - Raleigh, NC | Fonville Morisey Barefoot New Home Sales & Marketing

Noticed this activity last week walking home from the post office and did some research.

Nine townhomes are certainly an upgraded land use for this 0.54-acre property that served as overflow parking for the offices across Oberlin Road for the past 30 years.

Staggering $20M loss of value on The Maggie apartments with the recent sale to Tishman from TA Realty (who bought it for $91M in 2022). No doubt new supply is putting lots of downward pressure on rent growth for existing product.

The Oberlin hotel getting lit.

Roof edge lighting began appearing late last week and presumably will extend to all edges. This is the west elevation.

Zoom and long exposure doesn’t do justice to the individual bulbs but you know the treatment. Will really make it stand out in the current low-rise Village environment.

I like lighting in all its many forms.
