Gondolas. Every where. Park-n-gondola
Fortunately no concerts on a Saturday this year.
I am going to have to change my commute from RTP to go down Glenwood to avoid the Lenovo Center area. If only we had commuter rail, I could take that, and a lot folks going to the fair and concerts could as well.
I work in Wade Park… will be WFT tomorrow and Friday.
When the Hurricanes moved here, it became obvious that hockey games during the NCSF was a bad idea. For many years since, the NHL schedule has put the Canes on the road during the entire NCSF. Well, this leaves the Lenovo Center empty – and they’ve got a budget to make, so they allow the concerts to come in. I think it’s obnoxious. That said, my wife will be at Billie Eilish tomorrow night. ![]()
Gregory Poole moving their HQ to garner leaving 16 acres of property off blue ridge road, according to TBJ.
This had more info and no paywall for anyone interested - Gregory Poole Equipment Co. relocates HQ to Garner, expected to bring hundreds of jobs - ABC11 Raleigh-Durham - moving to Greenfield pkwy in Garner (near White Oak)
Unfortunately it’s over 5 years, which means nothing is going to get built in this up and coming prime spot for quite awhile.
Maybe the Blue Ridge Rd underpass will finally be completed by then!
Gregory Poole’s move out to Garner has been in progress since like 2007 when they moved their diesel service department there. This is news, sorta, but it’s pretty much the other shoe dropping.
In all seriousness, once all road construction is complete, there will be multiple pedestrian connections to the area from:
Western Blvd - Reopens once interchange construction is complete
Ligon St - New, direct connection to NC State
Hillsborough St - Utilizes Meredith Section of Reedy Creek Trail to connect to new sidewalk
Wade Ave - Via Reedy Creek Trail and new Blue Ridge Rd Pedestrian Bridge
Blue Ridge Rd - New Pedestrian Bridge
The only direct pedestrian connection before was from Western Blvd, excluding Edwards Mill Rd.
UNC vs State used to have biennial games during Fair week. Nightmare scenario.
wow, truly a tale of two skylines
This is by Lenovo Center and in the same location as Bru’s Public House. They already closed their North Hills original location and now this is closing. Honestly I’m happy to have them there, but I never go. Their food was mediocre and expensive for what you get, and the place is fairly lame inside. But there’s still a showroom for some home builder in one of the big retail spots already. It pays the landlord, but it’s very underutilized. And now there’s a second space. Hopefully something good goes in that space.
Damn, Stacey so cold………!
I ate there once. Meh.
Damn, they really said “F you, Stacey” in so many words, didn’t they?
I’m sorry to see this. I went occasionally, and I liked having the option in the area. Thought the lunch deals were okay. Sounds like it was unexpected for them, which is tough. Best of luck to them.
I really, really hope the landlord has another restaurant ready to take over the spot.
