Bring MLB To Raleigh

We can make Carolina Aviatprs.

this thread has jumped the shark

Carolina Jumping Sharks would be good too

Problem with Aviators is that four syllable names are kind of brutally unfitting for basic chants.

Let’s go A-vi-a-tors :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Go Aviators! Doesn’t roll off the tongue.

Edit: This is fixed with a 1-2 syllable nickname. E.g. Go Aces! Or something. Still, not my favorite.

A Ves, A Ves! Or "Lets’ go Vators!
But this doesnt make my top 3 if we are voting.

Figured that a lot of iconic MLB teams are named after birds. So, here are some bird team names that I don’t think have been mentioned:

Carolina Flycatchers
Raleigh Redstarts
Carolina Kingfishers
Raleigh Woodpeckers
Carolina Herons
Raleigh Wrens
Carolina Buntings

Some of these are a bit too close to home with baseball references, but I actually like some of the bird names.

Adding the last 5. Imo, birds and baseball go together like peanut butter and jelly

The Kingfisher is badass…
The cheers though for Leeeet’s Goooo, RAALEIIGH Wrens…Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Riiiickeeeey
Although, technically they’re Carolina Wrens - Mighty but SmOL.
Sneaky alliteration with the R/W.

Let’s go Peckers is almost as good at USC’s Let’s go Cocks.

I think we’re overlooking the obvious… “Tech Hounds.” Half cyborg dog. Half regular dog?

There haven’t been any better suggestions than these two lol. Even these ChatGPT jerseys are fire :fire:. @Brandonq

Edit: and maybe the Aviators since its unique and could be associated with endless home runs and the Wright Brothers lol :airplane:

I like the Copperheads despite my wife being bitten by one last summer outside our garage bay. Luckily, it was a dry bite.

just realized the secondary color on these copperheads jersey is similar to copper’s patina – i.e. the iconic copper roof of the capitol building that we just replaced

This is Super!!! I would never have thought that Raleigh would stand a chance at getting a Major League Baseball Team in my lifetime. I’m 75 & I Love This!!! I have lived in Raleigh all my life except for 4 years, Army/College! I remember Raleigh’s nickname was “ Sleepy Capital Of The South”! 65,000 residents! Winston Salem was twice the size of Raleigh, now we are twice the size of Winston Salem!:heart_eyes:Celebrate Guys on Raleigh’s Success!

This is now or never… MLB to Raleigh local support what are you doing?

Last week I emailed Councilor Melton concerning soccer stadium & he replied right away that conversations have been discussed concerning MLB .

So are PDX, SLC, and Nashville considered the frontrunners over us, or is that post missing an “other”?

That’s very good I’m glad they’re conversating now, it’s good there engaged with talks.

Good question. I would consider them to be front runners with us. These markets who’ve had their names dropped in the last few years either…

A) have hurdles that we don’t have (public money earmarked for other stadium projects, smaller populations, etc.), or…

B) are missing some key pieces that we do have (billionaire ownership candidate, favorable TV/population metrics, etc).

Quite honestly, the only thing Raleigh is missing in this race is national brand recognition. People hear Raleigh and think college sports, tech, higher ed, nice place to raise a family, etc. That’s one of the reasons we started this project: to highlight Raleigh’s brand as a major-league-worthy market and bring that message to the masses. Many people here already believed that, but we’re trying to raise our profile to the point where we get name-dropped by the national media.

And it’s working.
