Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Raleigh

To double down on what I said in the “Future of Transit” thread, this was posted in GoTriangle’s planning/legislative committee meeting agenda next Wednesday:

If we believe this schedule, this implies that the FTA may give their thumbs-up for GoRaleigh’s design work around the holidays, look for construction companies in the spring, and start building early-mid 2022.

There’s also more specific timelines for the other BRT routes! Remember that engineering and environmental work is actually important for the Western and Wilmington routes since new road extensions have to be built for them.

…at least, unless you WANT environmental lawsuits like the I-540 expansion did, or you know someone who wants to donate several hundred millions of dollars so GoRaleigh doesn’t need to apply for federal funding.


The capital projects update in Board of Trustees’ meeting agenda didn’t have a lot of updates, but they did mention this expected update date for the new RTP transit hub (and potential BRT extension stop):
