Exactly
, and the Apple
effect has been estimated to to pull in around 16,000 jobs and one more thing, Apple was being modest with the 3,000 jobs they are gonna add alot more people than that at this Campus long term.
Great news, I am buying a share of apple stock for each job they create, I hope I kill it, woohooo!
Share for each job?! Can you buy us a sports team instead!
Those salary numbers in these announcements are always perplexing to me. Is there any mechanism in place to hold companies to those expectations? What prevents the state/Apple announcing that high of a number to get the great PR then Apple actually hiring at much lower salaries? It seems like economic incentives are typically tied to number of positions created - and the state can claw those back if the goals arenāt met - but does pay actually figure in as well? Genuinely curious how that works.
Iāll add to that, I expect there are exceptions based on uncontrollable economic situations. This info should be publicly accessible, no?
Iām a bit on the fence about whether governments should award special incentives at all, but if they do, I think NCās Job Development Investment Grants (JDIG) are a relatively good way to do it, bc they are awarded over time and pay back a % of the taxes generated by the jobs.
There is a formula and every year there is review. If a business fails to meet any condition, there is a reduction in payment or the grant can be terminated. Crucially, the reduction is required by statute to be proportional to the failure to comply.
I also wonder if itās not like 30 people making $1 - 10 million, and everyone else making 50k. They said average salary, not median salary.
Right now, 3000 shares is about 400K.
While it wonāt get you a stadium, there is a 2 bedroom condo in the Paramount thatās on the market for that price.
I think that software engineers in the Raleigh market are making around 130K, and these jobs are focused on AI and Machine Learning, so a higher number isnāt that much of a stretch. However, these numbers will also include sr. manager and director level jobs as well, and those jobs are probably in the 200s +.
^ just guessing really.
Sounds about right to me. Although I did think mentioned a minimum salary of $137k or something. That seems hard to believe unless they outsource a lot of their admin work.
Iāll be the Apple janitor cleaning toilets for that kind of pay.
Yeah except, that job is probably outsourced to someone getting paid $10/hour.
I work for a Silicon Valley firm and admins these days are FEW and far between. Most employees are totally responsible for doing their own admin work like booking travel, expense reports, booking meetings, etc. My group has one admin shared among a VP, the directors and managers. While the admin positions are more entry level positions, they arenāt as low paid as one might expect when they were more plentiful. Still, I doubt that they are typically 6 figures.
Yep Iām familiar with that. I was thinking more like security guards and receptionists. But what about someone who is for example, entry-level in HR. $137k salary would be extraordinary. Iām sure there was some spinning in the way it was stated. Probably getting a little off topic hereā¦
My guess is that receptionists, security guards, housekeeping, cafeteria workers, etc. are all contract workers through CBRE, Aramark, Colliers, etc. Sometime admins can be contract as well.
Lmao was totally thinking apple stock was in the thousands but thatās Amazon. Oops!
Even then though, think weāre falling a bit short of the MLS expansion fee.
If the stock were in the thousands, Iād be retired right now!
I wish!!!
As it stands, the Kansas City Southern Railroad stock that I bought 3 years ago is doing quite well for me!
My guess anyone working on the AI / Machine Learning projects will be making $250K plus. Good ones in these fields are in position to name their price. Low pay jobs, such as house keeping, security, stock room, food service and such will be outsourced so not counted in average. Throw in a few $500k plus management types and then 2000 lower rank developers but still $120k or so and I do not think the reported numbers are to high. Also Iām willing to bet they are including total cost to Apple, such as Appleās share payroll taxes, insurance and such.
These incentives are an annual rebate (mostly paid years in the future) on state personal income taxes withheld from paychecks. They donāt get paid out until after the paychecks go out, and those amounts are obviously reported to the state.
Itās not an upfront check with no accountability.
Naw sir, you wonāt have control of the team, it will be accosted and turned into politics and conjecture, not just a sport, no thanks. Plus my ass is broke.
