City Gateway - Mira Apartments and more (Gateway Southeast)

That pretty much all but guarantees a ridiculous vehicle required school drop-off and pickup bottle neck as basically zero kids will be walking to that school.

Oh sorry, I guess my question wasn’t clear. I did notice that image and the school. I guess I was wondering, now that all that is for sale, whether the new buyer will be required to build according to that plan (including the school) or if they are not required to build according to that plan (meaning the school potentially won’t be built).

Is that clear?

Hopefully Exploris finds a better location for their new school.

No kids downtown is what I always say!
(Also at breweries…)

I was kinda wondering the same thing. The flyer seems to imply the school and the parking facility (that is currently being permitted) are both in the plan but then I would guess whoever spends all that money on this site would rather come up with their own ideas?

Looks like an ideal gondola launch point to me

New article coming out of TBJ regarding Townebank and Dogwood merger working towards a development. Previously Dogwood bank was set to build on the City Gateway site. Not sure if this is revived or another site is being explored. 2-tower development in downtown Raleigh to be new HQ for local bank - Triangle Business Journal

I heard Towne spent $800/SF on their regional office on Falls of Neuse Road. They don’t seem to mind spending money for quality, so a downtown high rise building for their brand seems to align.

I so want these buildings to come to fruition … once they and the Omni are done, the skyline will look a LOT less disjointed between the Weld, the Mauve (or whatever on Dawson) and downtown.

It should just be one tall tower. I will be as hateful as possible to LR and NIMBYs who are against it. #NoToleranceForNIMBYism

I want these buildings as well, but then how will the N&O be able to see the performing arts center? The view from a mile away will be nearly completely partially blocked!

The sooner these renderings can come to fruition the better!

This project was scrapped for the 5-6 floor apartments. The bank hq relocation would have to be a new project - but also the article made it sound like even that was a long shot and they will just stay in place for awhile?

Mass grading appears to be approved 8 acres: Mass grading for development associated with ASR-0028-2024/SPR-0079-2025 has S&E for 8 acres that covers Mass-0005-2026 JSL (SelfService Public Site)

Was starting to lose hope for this one. I know it still may fall through, but I’m staying optimistic about it with this latest update. Any new hotel (w/ ground floor retail!!) is a huge win, and much-needed for this part of DTR. 16 stories here is a nice bonus also for the money-shot view.

I’m sorry for not fully understanding, but is this actually moving forward, or was this an approval from 2024 that we’re still waiting on? Is this an update?

I think its actually just the grading and the street extension of Kindley to MLK Jr Blvd.

Yes this appears to be correct and for the parking deck piece with the hotel being reviewed separately.

I was under the impression the land was being marketed for sale. Did that not end up happening, or did the developer decide to move forward with part of the project anyway?

I’m gonna guess that the sale is still happening, but the street extension is now an official city plan so that can move forward regardless. I wonder who pays for the grading and street extension though.
