I emailed them this morning about that actually.
What the hell city IS that?? Looks like a Sim City

Actually I’m pretty sure that’s Shanghai, North Bund in the Hongkou area. That’s the cruise ship terminal in the back. And the dark green building is the new white magnolia tower.
Uh yeah that’s not the right photo at all
It’s fixed as of around 3p or so.
Good find! I’d also say that Shanghai looks like SimCity…
It does. Although they’ve really slowed down the pace of building from 10 years ago. The city is literally sinking from all the weight of the buildings. Sometimes I look around Raleigh and think, the time it takes to get 1 project out of ground here, Shanghai would’ve built an area the size of DT Raleigh. But that’s the benefit of a well funded, centrally mandated city without the red tape (and sometimes property rights) that we have to navigate here.
September 23rd is when Gotcha will deploy their scooters.
They said “week of” 23rd on Twitter a couple weeks ago. Did they say day of or still general timeframe? I’m very excited for this!
So these are the scooter parking locations? Not too excited about this selection. If it’s virtual, there should be maybe 5 times more.
So what happens if you don’t use the selected parking locations and park them anywhere?
You can park them anywhere, in theory, but if it’s outside the parking zones, you have to pay a higher fee for that. Not sure how much higher but I do know that if they are outside the enforcement zone, then it’s a $50 fee. I’m asumming this is loosely the borders of the beltline minus these key areas near NC State.
Looks like the scooters are all having a town meeting over in East Raleigh.
I saw all of the Bird and Lime scooters had moved to Durham when over there last night. They didn’t go too far.
I’m hoping they actually send the scooters out today for use, I’m having withdraws symptoms.
I’m assuming that is their warehouse outside of 440 on New Bern where they all sit currently.
I downloaded the app and started digging into the parking zones, one is placed right in the middle of Chavis Park construction?
Really disappointed in the lack of locations. There are some huge holes in that map which is going to limit their usefulness. Once again a sign of the resistance from Raleigh leadership to adopting innovative solutions to help solve important issues like (last-mile) transit. Early voting has started - Get out and vote everyone!
So much for equity with the parking locations on the east side of downtown…
Interesting. Thanks for the info @dtraleigh
Gotcha scoots are out and about.
