Dorothea Dix Park

So at most it’s used 2 weeks out of the year. In other words, “what programming?” LOL

I’m just saying, it can and should be in use every weekend April/May through October, at very least!

Groove in the Garden. Should most definitely be brought back in some capacity.

I saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail there once a long time ago. We brought our drinks in. It was fun.

During the pandemic my church hosted several Sunday services here. Obviously a global pandemic is a zero-star experience that I would not recommend, but the rose garden was an absolutely amazing place to hold our services, so that was a silver lining, at least.

I seem to recall they also do outdoor movies there over the summer as well. We have looked at the schedule, but never actually be to one.

As a wayward youth, this is where I developed my deep dislike of gin.
It is a lovely space, they tore a fair bit out when they renovated - the back wall and the two flanking buildings. Growing up a block from here, I was always surprised people didn’t know of it.
For those who don’t know, this park use to be the infield for the fairground - with the race track went around it, hence the curve on the north end.
An amphitheater this size at Dix would be great. Small, casual, community and not commercial oriented.

Just got an email that Gipson Play is set to open in the spring. I think we knew that was the approximate opening timeframe but now that we’re getting closer, seems that’s still the case. They also included this video:

Came here to post this. This is going to be a gamechanger for southside of DTR.

For reference, this is the final design of the Gypson Play Plaza. It looks like they are following this design to the T.

That’s a shame. Too green. :seafoam_green: I was hoping they’d keep all the reddish brown.

You are such a buzz killer. We all know little pigs like mud better. But come out and play in the nice green grass. I promise it won’t be :seafoam_green: lol
