Anyway I’m downtown right now at Morning Times and the Pedal Pub is out, tables are packed, Moore Square is bustling, people are everywhere. You’d never know we even are in a pandemic except for the masks on servers and extra outdoor seating.
But is it just the outside tables that have people? With this weather, forget sitting inside. I imagine people pass if there’s only inside tables available.
Again I’m really interested in Tuesday’s discussion as downtown seems to be crawling back at a pace that this armchair councilor thinks is just fine.
Reading this sitting outside! We got over our fear of sitting inside awhile ago, and often do that anyways just for the ambience or whatever, but this weather right now…yeah, sitting outside is fantastic! One of the best things hopefully to be permanent from this pandemic is all the expanded outside seating.
Love it there. Are the wineries in Napa open for tastings?
In chilly SF, people are happy to be eating/hanging inside to escape the wind, but yeah the weather is very outdoor friendly here in wine country.
I’m excited for the possibility of making expanded outdoor options permanent in DTR. Would love for the city to offer a construction grant for restaurants to build more aesthetically pleasing extensions to outdoor dining.
Yes! Did my first Napa tasting yesterday at Frog’s Leap vineyards.
As a total tangent, the Yadkin Valley AVA is actually really fun to visit. Shadow Springs Vineyard’s steel barrel chardonnay is pretty dang good for a cackalacky wine
Never been but I imagine it’s pretty there.
And I just opened a Napa cab so I’m there in spirit.
Yeah, Stir…would not be my beacon for what other ‘adaptive’ spaces / approaches can be…
Beginning of the wave, indeed…
It’s mother’s day weekend or something.
Yep, went there today as well. I packed illegal but what could I do. Picked up some bulks of apples to make cider.
Crabtree is packed and so is North Hills today.
I hope that people are not stupid enough to take advice on vaccinations from an internet blogger, seek advice from your physician before making your decision, not from a commercial development site.
Information from a good friend that loves Raleigh like we do ! Springhill Hotel , Dawson / Martin St. Nash Square plans approved . 400-H has finished first review , awaiting resubmittal . Hotel @ 603 S. Wilmington St. in site review. DTSouth in preliminary .
I wish more people would take medical and vaccine advice from their doctor and from sound medical principal, over what they see or read on the internet. We would be getting way closer to hear immunity
That’s a LOT to take in for one post, @nipper.dwight!!!
What a sigh of relief maybe we no bounce back faster.
Video is above. Nothing really big to report I guess. Like we said, it’s slowly coming back. Weekends seem to almost be there but weekday activity needs the office folks to return, which is projected to trickle upwards through the Fall.
Seems great to me!
We really should be thankful for the building that is still taking place in our downtown. I’m extremely interested in this “back to work” topic, mainly cause it will have a direct impact on downtown, currently is from my perspective. Perhaps DTR can pivot if a big WFH culture sticks.
Having a downtown that is arguably overweighted in residential is turning out to be a good thing.
