They’re so good. We routinely cross over from the westside to east to go to Little Native.
I prefer the native term “teppanyaki” for Kanki, Benihana, etc. Only in the U.S. and Canada is this form of cooking called “hibachi”, which in Japan refers to a type of charcoal pot (not the grills sold at Walmart and Target).
Benihana has been around a long time. Locations come and go.
Well last I checked, this is America! It’s my God given right to call things by the wrong name!
I’m other news, from Triangle Food Blog:
Sitti Authentic Lebanese (137 S Wilmington Street) is reimagining what brunch looks like in downtown Raleigh—something slower, warmer, and rooted in tradition. They are serving it up every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring specials like — Brioche French Toast with lavender strawberry compote and local Oakwood honey whipped cream; Basted Eggs Maghmour with braised tomato, eggplant, chickpeas & house labneh; Brunch Pita Wrap —falafel or shawarma, scrambled eggs, pickled cucumber, herbed tomatoes & warm pita with melted feta and Manchego. Pair it with a Za’atar Bloody Mary, a pomegranate mimosa, or a Lebanese Spritz (yes, it has arak).
I’m always happy for a brunch option downtown, and I really like Sitti.
Laughed at this a little, but I am also excited for more brunch options
I went to Sitti years ago and it was great. I went to Sitti a few months ago and was not impressed. Maybe it was an off night, but I intrinsically distrust anything run by Empire Eats after what they did to the Pit.
Yeah in fairness I haven’t been in awhile. I liked Gravy a lot but it wasn’t great when I went more recently. Hope they get their groove back.
I could see Coopers finding a home on Faye St then complaining about events…
i do variations of these on my griddle at home
this is from cracker barrel…maybe a foil packet restaurant?
New Downtown Japanese Retail Store draws big lines to get in Saturday morning.
manager seems like a sweetie, this is a nice addition!
Shoot, I was at Nice Price yesterday afternoon and there was a huge line out the door!
Awesome to see some new retail come to Hillsborough St that people are excited about. The two new apartments in this area - Uncommon and the Standard - didn’t have any street level retail for the first 4-5 years they were open.
Still have my fingers crossed for at least one bar open down there in close walking distance to the NCSU baseball park to replace the hole that East Village’s closing has still left in my heart.
I’m intrigued to check this out, but I don’t want to wait in line. Is there a VIP entrance somewhere?
Now we just need a MUJI (clothes & household goods) and Uniqlo (clothes) store near or in the warehouse district
yes, yes, right through these doors sir. after you.
That little pig, he is always looking for special treatment.
