As soon as I posted that I came across this article which lists Raleigh as the ‘Most Optimistic’ when it comes to small businesses expecting a return to ‘Normal’. Not sure if that makes us naive or good, I’m going to be optimistic myself and go with the latter.
We’re getting there!
Just in time for pumpkin spice/beer weather! Oh wait.
Yay way too go, let’s pray for more recovery
Ate outside at the Glenwood Hibernian yesterday. The Gaelic Club sandwich was quite good. Decent crowd. Pretty good Covid mitigation/distancing.
Great Food at Sushi Blue on Glenwood Thursday night. Outside dining. I was pleasantly surprised that the crowd was quite brisk. Certainly not like pre-Covid but not dead either. Hope some of these great eateries can hang on.
Was one of my favorite sushi places downtown, haven’t really been in the past year but was really good when I went.
Longleaf Lounge is open with great snacks and drinks. Really good social distancing and large outdoor area. Love it.
Good Day Good Night or at least the bar was packed last weekend IDK. Not advisable but what can you do.
Sunday afternoons have been good for us the 2 times we’ve been. Very few people and fun staff
I’m gonna miss Tama, that was always a good place to go to for a quick snack when I was downtown, and my kids loved their drinks.

Not quite downtown, but I had heard nothing about this place besides a concept awhile back. Looks like they’re opening this weekend!
Also, not sure if this was posted, but WRAL is reporting Lady Luck on GS already closed. I guess opening in a pandemic with a date rape owner isn’t a good business plan. Disappointed because I was hoping that place would be good and maybe a little classier/funkier than what usually is on that little block.
Cursed location. That space should be broken up in two.
Isn’t that the truth! It would seem to me that the only thing that can survive in that location is some sort of destination retail like an Apple Store, or some sort of high traffic chain/chains like Chipotle, Moe’s, etc.
Roshambo Beverage Co. or however you spell it, was very busy tonight. Lots of residential nearby on the Eastside. Might need more of this on this side of downtown.
Anyone else very surprised how many restaurants are hanging on? I don’t know a ton about the industry other than they have extremely small margins so I did not expect as many to last even this long
