Did anyone hear anything this week about the demolition being delayed?
Is this what you’re talking about? It isn’t going to open until 2025 anyway, so I don’t think its anything to worry about

In a surprise move…
Ah! Original post to which I was replying disappeared.
But here is a rendering @dtraleigh posted in May ‘22:
And a different angle posted by @mike in October’22:
Yes, i had found the renderings for the hotel on another site so i had deleted the comment, Sorry.
That actually looks not as crazy next to Taverna Agora and Second Empire from that second angle.
I admit, this is going to be a Beautiful hotel tower along Hillsborough street.
Yes, that is it. I was a little concerned that this project was going to be a “no go”.
I think a hotel of this caliber and in this location will encourage additional growth in DTR supporting the convention center, business travel and NCSU. Great all around!
Even with the width to height fail, still easily the best looking hotel in DTR.
Only. If. It. Gets. Built.
This place stresses me out currently.
Lol a tale as old as time
Not surprising honestly, I’m sure investors are anxious to see how the Chick-fil hotel does initially and while also keeping their eye on the city supported Omni hotel. Hotel funding is in murky waters, especially one off the beaten path of convention centers and events.
Yeah it seems like there may be an over-saturation of hotels in the pipeline at this point. From the skinny hotel, Chick-Fill-A, possible Acorn Marriott and now the Omni.
Apparently Omni is still a go.
Yea, I think that also has investors gun shy knowing it will most likely happen with the city’s help.
Why wouldn’t it be, I thought that they just made the decision to partner with the convention center. Plus the reps said that the project is fully funded with help from the city.
