65 story apartment tower was announced in Austin today. 700+ feet. I think this is a matter of politics than anything else.
Every additional story starts adding exponential cost to construction, so we’re going to need proof we can sell downtown Raleigh condos or rent downtown Raleigh apartments for some silly money before something like that even gets on the table for the politicians to think about.
100%…. The market in Raleigh doesn’t support quite yet 30+ story buildings. Politics are the least of concerns for developers…
As I understand it City Council votes tomorrow to effectively sell a slice of the sidewalk to the developer so they have sufficient right of way during construction. I’m sure I’m off with exactly what’s going on there (see this post for clarity) but my point is after tomorrow (with an approval vote), there’s nothing stopping the start of this project. Even permits are apparently approved.
The Acorn crane will be next obv but this one will be our next next crane up.
Yea assuming everything starts soon, this is significantly less demolition and site work compared to RUS Bus.
Sending the good vibes this project’s way today!
This project should be good to proceed now.
Saw a little action here this morning.
Ayy. Original article said they were breaking ground in April. So pretty close to the original timeline.
Same crew from the Nash square hotel property
Looks at all that water and soil on the ground!! That would never fly at a hazwaste site. (My inner geologist is screaming right now). LOL “Clean” drilling is very different than the world I operate in.
the they will work it out. drinkable it will be.

Barricades going up! The projects I have no faith in go up the, ones I do languish
Bumping this up to the top of the thread for easy viewing of the renderings: Development - Capital Square
Sounds like you need to start having zero faith in all future development projects
