Open Data for Raleigh and Beyond

That said, I really dropped into this thread to talk about Wikidata  .

Wikidata is an open data source about basically anything. It’s the structured data behind a lot of Wikipedia and other systems.

Recently I’ve been working to add data about North Carolina, and we were the first U.S. state published in GovDirectory. GovDirectory is recognized as a Digital Public Good and recently received an award from the Free Software Foundation.

Maybe some folks here would be interested in adding more info to Wikidata about state agencies located in Raleigh? Many agencies records need geolocation, photos, etc. Anyone can contribute to Wikidata. If you’d like more of an orientation to the GovDirectory project specifically, though, the there are coworking calls every Friday at 9am Wikidata:WikiProject Govdirectory/Events - Wikidata
