Pictures and Videos of Downtown Raleigh

Charlotte was thrilled to be #2 until they saw who #1 was.

Funny that even NC as a whole got a spot in the countdown at #12. :joy:

Raleigh brings it home every time. If I didn’t already live here I would move here just given all the hipe out there. My daughter has some 20 something friends who have done just that! And they love Raleigh. I hate to tell all the stick in the mud peeps but growth and density are here to stay. At least in Raleigh proper and much of the surrounding area. And I’m good with that.

Tell that to silly Dylan…

Raleigh is not a city for haters. I’ve noticed it tends to get attacked by people who are insecure about their own hometown who are clearly trying to convince themselves their city is great. There are also a fair number of people living here that want it to be Montreal or Seattle right now and who can’t wait. Either it happens tomorrow or they’re leaving. The other thing is that peoples’ perceptions of a city often lag a decade or two behind. Most cities I’ve been to were once or twice, that amount of time ago, so I couldn’t give an objective assessment of what they are like now. Raleigh has to fight the inertia of public perception of the way it was in the 90s.

It’s a city for the GeographyKings of the world. People who have actually been to a lot of cities they’re comparing, who would say they enjoyed visiting every city they’ve ever been to. People who have a taste for unhype cities that are on the cusp of becoming hype.

That Dylan. He’s a lost cause. He’s swimming with the fishes. Figuratively not literally lol. But at least he sticks his toe back up here for a dental appointment here and there.

Spreading peace and mindfulness to thousands. Very moving and timely today at the Raleigh Capital

They need longer pants and better shoes, but very nice to see. We actually didn’t realize they were coming through today and just happened to be downtown. Didn’t see them, but saw the crowds. Thanks for the pics!

They addressed the clothing issue. Many were concerned about this topic as are you. The answer given: it’s about commitment not comfort.

We went and walked several blocks behind the monks. It was incredible and wonderful to see so many people out in the cold to support them. We were at the Capitol for an hour, but couldn’t hear anything they, the mayor, and the governor were saying, but I’m confident it was uplifting. I felt honored to be able to be a small part of the experience.

And here’s something for all the doubters who said “there is nothing to see” if we built an observation tower in Dorothea Dix.

Those photos were part of a long series of shoots. Ultimately I leaned more on the night footage. I’ve been trying to improve my technique for night shots. Really wanted to try to show the ground level density in ways other drone channels haven’t. I hope to grow this channel some more and do every other city in the state (and some neighbor states) some day. Any requests what anyone would want next?

Here it is… my love letter to Raleigh and to this community. Hope you folks like it.

I especially like the shots looking north from deep in the Warehouse District up West and Harrington toward Midtown. It’s a shot that one doesn’t usually get to see.
I also really think the video approach to the center of the city is best when starting from the NW side of downtown and moving southeast from there. It never disappoints!

Thanks!

A couple downtown views.

I think I’ve seen this building but forgot about it.

I definitely don’t remember this one, but then again I don’t live downtown and I am hateful to everything east of Fayetteville St. :eyes:

This building is a historic treasure. I hope they keep it forever :joy:
