Had quite a few buddies at this fire. One crew was briefly trapped in here, but were able to self rescue. My one buddy said it was heart breaking watching bottles float down the street from all the water pouring out of the building.

I ate lunch there on Christmas Eve with a friend. We sat in that front window on the left side near the former fireplace. 2 days later, it was gone. Crazy!!!

Combo of the hotel and 400 will make a nice difference from this vantage in a couple of years.

No snow day pictures? I’m surprised.

There like absolutely no snow downtown. Was sad to look out my window this morning. A very very light dusting on some cars and the grassy areas, that’s about it.

Dang, can’t say the same here in Durham. It started snowing again an hour or so ago.

There’s always been this invisible snowline that runs between Raleigh and Durham.

I recall Raleigh getting good snows throughout my life. Sometimes it’s luck of the draw. Some storms hit Durham during warmer day temps and drop rain while cooling to snow by the time they reach Raleigh. That said on average the western Triangle gets slightly more snow.

There may be another chance on Friday, and I wouldn’t be surprised if February delivers something either.

OK here is a snow pic. looking out from second floor of house. Hard to say how much there is due to wind. Everything from none (see decking and garage roof on right) to 4-5ft drifts on drive. Sorry about the snow stuck to windows, due to supper insulated windows and not enough heat gets through to keep snow from sticking to out side.

Edit - Tuesday morn and still some snow flying around and may be a couple more days before can get out. It’s almost a mile to public road and even that has not been cleared yet.

The way that low pressure system was rotating, we were getting fed warmer air from a warm front over the coast. By the time all that moist air got to Durham and westward it had cooled off enough to support snow
