What I like about Publix is that they are not afraid to go into urban/walkable neighborhoods, invest in a more expensive locations, and go vertical with their stores and parking. They also know how to do it a well since there are many versions of this model in MiamiDade alone.
Better than the crappy building thatās currently there as well as most everything around itā¦
The more Wake County life science potential the better, this industry to see heavily Durham County based atm. I hope Kaneās North Hills Innovation District and the Midtown Exchange draws some as well.
I hoped it would have been another grocery store, other retail stores, or maybe a couple of restaurants since itās right off the greenway.Wegmans isnāt too far off but the connection from the greenway to Industry Drive isnāt paved.
Iāll stop by the Jasmin and Gym Tacos when I bike the greenway. I used to go to Tropical Pickin Chicken but stopped going since I had 3 bad experiences somewhat recently. Since the trail is flat in this area, it could have attracted people to bike over from the apartments on Six Forks.
Assuming itās just the old Kroger and the post office being converted? I donāt get a life sciences facility going next to a Tuesday Morning and Dollar Tree, but maybe it will work ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Iām sure life sciences care a lot more about whatās inside the building than who the neighbors are. Withing reason that is, guess would not want to be next to something that would have effect on research or production going on inside. But restaurants and retail would not be a problem. I would be more worried about that temp lake Crabtree that shows up every few years.
It seems life sciences might be the secret sauce for Holly Springs area at the moment. They are clearing land left and right for big new life science facilities. Just this year alone they announced Fujifilm, Amgen, and something inbetween FujiFilm/Sequiris called The Yield. Driving into town they also had some public hearing signs up about this future development too.
crane being set up at north hills behind the vine. saw from the freeway, but couldnāt get a pic!
Finally looked up what the Coming Soon signs at the empty lot at Six Forks and Atlantic were publicizing: 2601 Atlantic Ave - Hobbs Properties
Who knows what the timeline is, those signs have been up since I moved here. Great location on a busy intersection just behind Midtown.
Just drove past the vine, it looks like they started putting up the crane, couldnāt get a picture.
Would be great if weād start to see a bit more of an urban character around Midtown. Just pushing the buildings to the corner of the intersection with parking hidden behind them would make such a huge difference and future-proof small parcels like this to relate to surrounding sites if/when they start to get redeveloped.
Wow was not expecting that they would use a tower crane for that site. They didnāt use one for the first part of vine. Must be tight site constraints etc.
Iām not sure where this should be mentioned. Maybe we need a Hillsborough Street District thread going.
The very dated DoubleTree by Hilton near the NCSU Bell Tower has been sold. Iām guessing this huge piece of prime property is ripe for redevelopment or at the very least an updated hotel. The current structure is over 55 years old and it shows.
interesting. big site, 3.8 acres, and zoned for 12 floors
Sold for $42M! ā¦ā¦ā¦.!
That seems somehow like a good deal and a good profitā¦!?
From a different threadā¦
Yep probably both. ā¦
