Wasn’t able to be a photo but it looks like there’s another crane going up on the Lassiter side of North Hills.

Definitely nothing visible going on at ME for a while now. Here’s some pics of NHID and the Cardinal from yesterday though.

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been MIA, I was droneless for a little while. Anyways, I’m back now & here’s a quick North Hills update. Soooo many cranes!! (Crane City or Kane City?)

The bow of the ship is taking shape!

Wow yet another crane. Though I’m assuming the cardinal cranes days are numbered as the building is about to top out.

I love when people mourn the loss of the trees for construction. Then you see pictures like these and it puts it all in perspective.

Great shots!

I mourn the trees, however I also mourn them when they are torn down for single family housing. You lose more trees per house in a single family development. I do wish there were more reserved areas for parks and general greenery.

That’s my point. This area is nothing but trees. I like the woods, but prefer to live in a city filled with buildings and some trees.

I’m a Craniac Craniac I’m sure of, and they are building like they never done before!

I prefer to live in a city that has a mix. Lots of buildings is good, but lots of trees/green space is good as well. There’s major cities that have a lot of green space. No reason why we can’t have both.

And we do. Raleigh has no shortage of trees.

There are too many trees here! Kidding but having moved here from the much drier climate of California in 2005, I’ve always felt claustrophobic driving down the highway because their often enclosed by trees. I’m used to driving along and seeing things in the distance, which is more interesting, to me anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I like trees and it’s good we have so many here. And compared to other urban areas I’ve lived I think Raleigh isn’t in danger of becoming desolate.

My brothers wife is from Nebraska and she says the same thing every time they visit. All the trees make her feel claustrophobic. And driving along the beltine, she has a hard time realizing she is in the middle of neighborhoods.

One thing I like about Winter here is I can actually see the neighborhoods from the road, or whatever is generally hidden otherwise.

I prefer all the trees; but, I have lived here all of my life. I also love that I can’t see my neighbors from my backyard in the spring and summer.

Yep that’s definitely a plus for the trees. And if you live next to the beltway or a large development it’s also great.

north hills as it is now and is becoming to me was spot on…a dense pocket outside of downtown. the neighborhoods that surround it are full of very mature trees. pleasant neighborhood bike rides or walks to north hills if desired. i wouldnt necessarily like to see a new bern ave become a wall of 4 to 8 sotry building faces extend for miles though.

I live in Garner, not JoCo Garner, but 4 miles from downtown Raleigh, Garner. This time of year my back yard looks like I live in a tree house.

I love traveling, but whenever I come back home I’m always amazed by our trees and then remember how much I missed them and didn’t even realize. We have about 50% coverage of tree canopy which is pretty unique for a big city, but densification will obviously put stress on those numbers. Trees are a resource we are blessed with in the Piedmont. As long as we manage the trees we have, and continuing growing our parks and trails, I’ll be happy.

I don’t think that Raleigh will lose its canopy. Just look at Atlanta; they still have theirs, and that’s the model that we most closely mimic.
