Raleigh-area Mall / Life-Style Center / RTP Redevelopments

Well we have some up in coming developers. Honestly if North Hills goes through I’ll probably his last project in Raleigh. Because all vacant and infills are all rezoned. The spaces are filled.

i thought he had developed the sheraton imperial and what was the imperial center in the 80s…right at durham

Literally every aspect of that from u-tube to the horrendous grammar to the bus=crime and light race baiting pretty much just says “Larry is 85 years old”

That’s not light race baiting. In my opinion, it’s way worse.

Next Door just seem to be the most toxic platform filled with the most toxic statements by some of the most toxic people. :man_facepalming:

Sounds like racism… it certainly is an undertone.

Like nearly all social media, its toxic. It has destroyed many people’s ability to stop and think before they speak. Thanks to everyone here, esp Leo, that keeps this board civil.

I don’t particularly have problems with these “fake downtowns”. I won’t drive out to one of them, but if I lived near one, I would probably go to it. I consider them to be more small town feelish and more attractive to families who have kids. They can still be an area where people within the same community get together. I do laugh when people do talk so highly about them though. Some people will talk like they are the greatest thing; they aren’t but they’re also not terrible. They are quite bland.

As far as malls go, I don’t have problems with them either. Crabtree seems to have quite a few events that go on. They aren’t really promoted very well though. What I like about Crabtree is it does give me a place to go pick up some quick lunch (since I live just under a mile from it and can bike easily). It’s also cheaper than a Food Hall or some fancy Food Truck (not talking about the decent priced ones). The problem I have with Crabtree is that they haven’t done anything with the old Sears building and that it’s surrounded by a huge parking garage. There’s no exterior aesthetics and no nightlife bars or restaurants. I would like a park to be near the area, however since the greenway is near it, you aren’t too far from nature. The greenway connecting Crabtree Valley Ave and Parklake will be a great asset once it’s installed.

To be clear, my fire and cross emojis are what I think is really going on with that vapid post on nextdoor.

OMG. Clutch them pearls and protect the children.

Heard that the Navaho apartments are no longer renewing leases. Maybe we will start to get some site plans sooner than later. Will be a crucial connector between The Exchahge and North Hills…and eventually the greenway.

Looks like Whitley Law firm is going to be the first tenant at the Midtown Exchange per the TBJ.

Why would development of the apartments on Navaho Dr be a crucial connector to the Exchange and North Hills? Wouldn’t it just be an extension of the two developments or rather the development of that area as a whole? Navaho Dr is a dead end and the land the apartments sit on is kind of behind each project. While it would be nice to see that area redeveloped I’m not really understanding your logic.

The plan is for Navaho to connect to Church at North Hills st once the apartments are redeveloped. This will also provide another access point to North Hills from Wake Forest Rd other than just St Albans. Both would then be connected to the Exchange via Quail Hollow dr. Still will be some undeveloped space in between where the creek is but will make much more connected than is currently with the dead end at Church st.

Interesting. I’m sure the people that live on Hardimont will be glad to see Quail Hollow Dr go all the way through, but on the other hand homeowners on Quail Hollow will be pissed because that will create a major cut through road in their neighborhood. It already is, but this will make it worse. Navaho to Church makes alot of sense.

From Hillsboro, it looks like a whole other town in the distance.

The slanted tower is getting its last floor at number 10. The old Ruth Chris building is coming up out of the ground nicely.
