I suspect that it’s a good predictor. Kane is learning in North Hills and perfecting in Smoky Hollow. At least IMO, the finish and detail of SH2 exceeds similar buildings @ North Hills east. Let’s hope that repeats itself with SH3.
21 floor to go? That is going to be huge compared to the other towers in NE east.
Also - the construction fencing is up on St. Albans where the new tower for the NH old folks community is going. Not sure how tall that will be.
The Cardinal’s website says it will be 18 stories.
I think the old site plans showed 240ft.
Well, that’s a curve ball that I didn’t see coming.
Well that’s kinda disappointing I guess?
Uhm maybe they could make a Fortnite amusement park in smelling this it’s could be like our own version of Disney World!!! Cause with all that space there not just gonna use that as just a corporate headquarters but much more it could become a huge tourist attraction for this area!!!
I’ve given up trying to figure out what’s going on at the CTC site. It changes every two months.
Maybe Epic is going to make an Ikea game?
The only real news is that they’re not leaving Cary for another city. The car-oriented suburban campus for Epic Games is alive and well.
IKEA honestly had a better chance of success at the Triangle mall than CTC but that’s just my opinion.
Well lego-branded games are really popular. lol
Maybe, maybe not. This is on the Western BRT corridor and I’m sure that was a selling point to move here, but it remains to be seen how committed Epic is to the dense, mixed-use campus that Carolina Yards was supposed to be. We really don’t know anything at this point.
I went by there yesterday to see if there were any good deals. Only about 4 stores open and most of the mall has been boarded up.
So is this to be folded into Carolina Yards or in lieu of?
Hoping for the former but bracing for the latter.
I’m thinking Carolina Yards is no more.
“Epic Games said the company is now working with the Town of Cary on its plans for the development, including ways to incorporate a community aspect into the project.”
“A community aspect” doesn’t sound like a big development.
Hoping that that the planning and appearance staff will insist Epic keeps faithful to the rezoning previously approved:
The rezoning allows for up to 1.2 million square feet of office use, 360,0000 square feet of commercial use, 450 hotel rooms and 1,800 multi-family and townhouse dwelling units.
Perhaps Epic is using this as a diversification strategy to get into the development game a bit. A real life Sims City.
holy shit… for multiple reasons. Epic held a competition for the campus expansion that shortlisted world-class starchitects. I’m shocked they’re scrapping all of that.
Also very curious to see how this came about, if groundbreaking for Carolina Yards was set to be only a few months away. I’m honestly very disappointed and don’t have high hopes for them keeping most of the mixed-use elements. Epic tends to be very secretive/high security about their space. It’s a damn shame they snatched up 87 acres of what could’ve included a ton of housing and set the bar for future development in Cary.
EDIT: well, maybe there’s hope. Their current campus would’ve been less than 18 acres after full build-out. Maybe they’ll keep that portion for themselves and go mixed-use on the rest.
