Raleigh Elections and Council Overall

Nancy saying farewell. The new regime sitting behind her. MAB says the Moonshot starts tomorrow.

And where exactly is Saige Martin?

@Christopher

I would love to help bring a city-wide book discussion to fruition - although I suspect “suburban” Raleigh might not be too excited.

The library needs to get some copies - as do our new politicians - but I’d love to see builders/developers as well as folks in charge of zoning comment on his thesis - that we are all Detroit, some of us are just much closer than others.

Having a city than plans for seven generations out while also acknowledging why the overall basic design of cities only changed with the automobile and realizing the most popular portions of a city are the ones adhering to the “pre-automobile” design would, IMO, be a good thing.

My guess is hidden behind Nancy

His name tag is on the table to the right of Nancy. Everyone else is seated at their name tag. My guess is in the far right center of the photo. :toilet::roll_of_toilet_paper:

Yes, directly behind Nancy. BTW, Nancy spoke for maybe 2 minutes then it was the MAB show. She has laryngitis so she wasn’t her usual boisterous self. She still delivered a strong message and I’m looking forward to the execution of the plan.

Looking forward to (at very least) 2 years of the MAB show.

Here we go! Moonshot away!

I just watched the first city council meeting on YouTube. The non-closed session part that you can watch is just shy of an hour forty minutes. For anyone that’s interested on where this council is going to take the city, I highly recommend watching it.

Pretend I’m at a loud brewery in Cary right now and can’t listen to it. Any highlights?

Also, last night on my run down Wilmington St I saw flashing lights in the distance by Gravy. I was like, omg the new council has only been sworn in for an hour and the Moloks are already being reinstalled! (It was parking enforcement…womp womp)

A clear takeaway for me is that folks from Durham and Chapel Hill will not be able to claim that Raleigh isn’t a progressive city. Right now, I’m watching tonight’s session live.

Just watched all of the preaching at the beginning last night’s council meeting.

Happens each meeting.

By YouTube’s clock, it was over an hour before the council got to their business agenda. Certainly not all of that hour was taken by that group, but they did take the lion’s share.
It would seem that the strategy is to come to each meeting to proselytize, shame and admonish the council? Is that right?
Now I know that I’ll be an hour late to any council meeting that I’m going to attend.

I agree that is their tactic. Freedom of speech I guess. Sometime back last summer, it got very ugly in the council actually had to stop the meeting. I cannot remember all the details, but it made the news.

Each person is allotted so much time and they bring their spouse and they both talk and they bring their neighbors and their spouse and they all talk.

This time their children were talking.
