Raleigh Elections and Council Overall

Anyone want to guess why this is happening? I’ll start, majority of the board wants to make some major overhauls to the rezoning process. Who wants to come up with some more absurd ideas?

UPDATE: False alarm. Publication error by staff.

I saw that Melton posted this (also saw him in person for the first time today at lunch… didn’t bother him by telling him how good I think he is for our city). I’m very curious to see what the reason is for this. Is this a big change coming up, or something as simple as the new people getting up to speed?

Too early for April Fool’s…

After reviewing this week’s afternoon Council meeting, some of our new councilors are still figuring out our UDO and process…

How so? Any links to timestamps? Would be interesting to see.

I watched. They’re so unprepared!! I don’t expect them to know all of the ins and outs on day one, but their lack of preparation is embarrassing.

I would love some examples of this if you remember anything off the top of your head

Not sure where to put this but if you live in District D, Jane Harrison has initiated a Neighborhood Alliance meeting every 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:30 am at the Thomas Crowder Woodland Center. Went this morning and it was about as expected… a Livable Raleigh meeting with Jane sitting in. Would love to see some friendly faces (I actually havent met any of you, but it was all frowns in the room today) if you can attend in the future!

930 am on a Saturday basically guarantees it’s mostly old people lol. Or maybe I’m just bad at mornings.

Leo can we have a second monthly meetup to go to this in force and offer a counterpoint to their nonsense? Also can we bring beer or at least mimosas? If I’m getting up that early, I need some encouragement.

Public meeting and boozy brunch afterwards?

That’d be nice… I could get a drink after grilling them.

Yeah that works. I’m probably gonna bring some whiskey and get fired up anyways, if that’s cool. :tumbler_glass:

If you can, remind us the week of the next one - I’m District D and this would be a great motivator to get my Saturday gym sessions in either super early, or at least right after this meeting. Anything to get my ass up earlier on Saturdays is welcome.

OMG who can’t make a meeting by 930 on a Saturday? I can’t help but laugh at all the people on this blog that think anyone not like them or who gets out of bed to go be productive on a non-work day is “old”.

I must be super old…love being out early and getting shit done.

The older I get (almost 32) the more I have to wake up early on weekends to achieve the goals I want to achieve.

Attending one of these meetings for DistD is now added to the goals list.

Well, statistically, people wake up earlier as they get older. It’s how our Circadian rhythm works.

Women are also more likely to be early risers than men, which, looking at the posters who have said they can’t imagine waking up that early on Saturday… kind of checks out

I get up at 515 during the week days… Typically on the weekends, my internal clock gets me up by 6 on the weekends. Which is annoying when the other 4 members of my family will sleep till 8 or 9 (or later) on the weekends.

This might be getting off topic, but I wanted to unequivocally state that all of you early people are wrong. And I bet you go to bed early, too…like dorks.

It is the two hours of silence, when all the family is still asleep, that are my most productive.
@GucciLittlePig I use to be able to sleep in like a champion - noon, 1 pm, easy. Now, it’s been more than a decade since I slept past 0800. It just doesn’t happen. Now, an afternoon reposo - I am all over that like butter on toast.
