Raleigh Stadium/Arena/Sports Discussions

Not a bad idea, the fan base from upstate NY already migrated down here

Using attendance measures at a lame stadium like WakeMed doesn’t really say much.

The Washington, Orlando, Houston, and NY/NJ teams play most of their games at the MLS facilities and Chicago plays at the former MLS stadium and yet don’t have the fan support as here.

I am impress with The North Carolina Courage attendance numbers . I really hate that The North Carolina Football Club attendance is down a lot . Had to get my spaces in . NCFC use to be 4,500+ fans most of the time .

OK this is the first I’m hearing of this and A: DAMN does this piss me off, but B: I have serious doubts the Buffalo Bills would ever leave Buffalo. They can’t. They’re all they have up there…

But damn this is some B.S. Buffalo needs the Bills. Especially now that they’re almost back to their 90s glory. If it weren’t for the Bills (when they’re winning at least), Buffalo would rival Philly for the angriest place in America. But when the Bills are winning, Buffalo has something - anything - to root for. The Bills can’t leave. If they do, they are dead to me.

Buffalo is a legacy city, and as such will face the pressure to follow the population and economic trends of the country. In 1960 when the Bills were founded, Buffalo was the 14th largest metro in the country. Now it’s around 50th. For perspective, the Greater Buffalo area has about as many people as Wake County in twice the area. Unless they pull a Green Bay and the people collectively buy the franchise, it will be moved at some point in my lifetime.

Article also mentions upgrades to a hockey arena. I wonder if they are trying to bring an NHL team to Buffalo?? That could be big!

$100 Canadian or US?

Ummm, maybe I’m misreading your comments, but the Buffalo Sabres are a long time NHL team.

Only Team to lose the Stanley Cup on a legit no-goal (Skate in the crease) only to have the rule changed after the fact!

That shit was hard to believe

LMAOOO (@Street_Grid I’m going to assume this is a joke at the expense of one of the worst NHL teams in the league)

Literally the worst team in the entire league last season.

The owners of the Bills & Sabres are long-time ā€˜Buffalonians’ (is that what they are called)?

This said, they would still be the owners of the Bills based somewhere else…Buffalo will need to step up and acquiesce…as much as some on this thread will despise.

Either build a stadium…OR lose your franchise. That simple.

Yeah well, the Bills and Sabres (until recently) have had no problem packing their stadiums which no team in NC can say. Bills aren’t going anywhere, this whole charade is nothing more than a negotiating tactic.

Wake County land area is 835 square miles, Erie County is 1,043. Not twice as big and I’m honestly not sure how that matters. If you include Rochester and Southern Ontario, the market for NFL football is one of the largest in the NFL.

Hooooold up… now yall are telling me that Buffalo also has a NFL team?? Like, different from Syracuse College?

Okay, but if they move the Buffalo Bills to Austin, they really need to rebrand the team as the Austin Powers.

Obviously there’s literally a zero percent chance to move to Raleigh, but if they did, maybe they could make a play for old-time baseball fans and rename the team the Raleigh Fingers.

Including Toronto which is an hour away and is in the Bills Televiaion market and reach.
