I have a feeling this will more than likely be a lot of my pictures from this thread, but I absolutely love this park and love how much has changed/been added. It is a wonderful spot in Raleigh for both locals and visitors alike. There was quite a few people here (of course it’s Saturday). Being on the greenway path is always a plus for me as well.
Have family who was in town this week and decided to take them around the area. We grabbed food up on Person St and then walked to the Capital and back.
Once again showing off the Art Museum and the sunflowers which are surprisingly out this late. Come out on a weekend and you can definitely see the park is a major draw for people. Still saying that I think the Department of Agriculture building is boring out in this area. I would have preferred something else to go in its place.
Posting up a couple of photos from a casual group bike ride. We did a ride from Raleigh Brewing to Ponysaurus via the greenway, and back via downtown.
First photo is Raleigh Brewing Company. They had a live band for their 12th anniversary.
The second and third photo are at Ponysaurus. This is the busiest I have seen the area. I believe there were street shops on the far side.
A few photos where me and a friend did an ebike ride last Friday. We started up at Ponysaurus and then headed towards downtown. Crossing the Atlantic Ave. bridge was really bad as there’s construction. We had cars really squeezing up on us due to the construction. We didn’t get photos of the area near Ponysaurus, but there’s plenty already here I’m sure.

Halifax Mall. I have to say everytime I go to Halifax mall, it’s so relaxing. It gives me the feel of the National Mall in DC minus the museums and the fact that it’s smaller. The museums are close though.
The rest of the photos below are of Gipson Play Plaza. I wanted to se what it looks like at night. It is definitely pretty dead at night. We were approached by security who told us we weren’t allowed to ride our bikes through the park. We walked them out.
Not allowed to … ride your bikes … through the park …??? HUH?? Was it just because it was after dark, or was he trying to say that’s a general rule? Because no it’s not lmao
It’s just the Gipson Play area of the park. Not the entire park. I rode my bike through Dix last weekend, and they had sings up around the playground to dismount and walk bikes and scooters. Probably just don’t want folks flying through there with all the kids running around.
So I found this interesting, the big ol’ road rebuild on Blue Ridge includes a tree root bridge. Concret with ramps at both ends. This is a pretty massive project for folks who live along here, sidewalk, multi-use path, road rebuild, and a traffic circle. When it ever finishs it will be a real nice upgrade to what once was the country back road to Crabtree.
