The plane ticket costs $19. The baggage fee is $130+ (/s)
Sounds like Frontier. They even charge like $50 bucks for a carry-on.
We go to barrier islands off Sarasota and usually fly to Tampa and drive down. If there is a direct to Sarasota that is affordable, I’d consider it. Also have friends who made the permanent move from CT to FL to a barrier island closer to Ft. Myers, so that might be useful as well to visit them. Not earth-shattering news overall, though.
We ESSENTIALLY JUST GOT A HUB!!!
RVA’s dreams are shattered again, they hoped for a Avelo base or any base. No wait or was it Breeze Airlines.
Still waiting for the day we get our direct flight to San Diego back.
But It may not be as horrible as Frontier.
Up to 7 aircraft will be based here (based on current fleet plans). The base opens Feb 16, 2023 with 1 aircraft. They plan to add a second aircraft in Q2 2023
Can Avelo add a flight to Alabama? Please and thank you.
They’ll have as many as 7 aircraft based here by 2024. I can imagine BHM is being considered
Daniel and I can be reliable customers, passing each other back and forth as we each travel to see family.
Last time I flew to RDU from BHM, the total travel time was very close to driving - granted, I’ve got a 90 min drive just to get to BHM. . . .
Give me Huntsville and I’d use it a few times a year.
Give me BHM or HSV and I’m happy. Huntsville probably isn’t that far fetched with Space Command becoming a thing soon.
Even without BHM and HSV. This is still good while small, still this airline can grow here and eventually become a hub technically it is. So slow down on the demands.
There will be a damn sight more traffic between RDU and Fla than all Bama combined, lol.
A hub is good. I hope they do well.
Saw this headline from Business Journal just now. Anyone know more details.

As the airline industry balances recovery with ongoing headwinds such as the pilot shortage, Southwest Airlines is betting on Raleigh-Durham International Airport to support its plans for growth and new nonstop flights.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a race to add flights at RDU. Covid probably slowed things down, but it’s a strong market (growth, companies here) centrally located on the east coast with no hub competition.
@Daniel maybe that will be our RDU-BHM connection!!
Looks like Breeze to New Orleans, Providence, and Hartford.
