I highly recommend visiting Bermuda. Either for a long weekend or a full week. Fantastic little island. I’ve been 5 times over the years. It’s not cheap, but you can probably find some good deals.
Honestly none of my trips are ever cheap lol. But yeah I was checking it out a little. I know it’s not hot there in the summer since it’s basically our latitude, but definitely seems like a fun long weekend, and pretty convenient.
I like to stay at the Newstead Belmont Resort. It’s across the harbor from Hamilton, but you can access Hamilton via the water ferry. And they have shuttles (5 minutes) to a nice beach adjacent to Elbow Beach, great restaurants, a nice infinity pool overlooking the harbor, and golf/tennis.
My brother recently stayed at the Pompano Beach Club, an upscale resort right on the ocean. He said it was really nice.
The current setup is silly: all the cars leaving T1 have to switch places (right to left) with all the cars going to T2 (left to right). It’s never been quite so bad as LAX (where it’s much easier to walk across the terminal loop than wait in the traffic) but I’ve considered it.
Certainly a bridge to separate the two flows would work, and detaching International Drive will also help. While sitting there once, though, I had a thought: a roundabout at the end of T1 could allow the flows to distribute themselves, while also slowing traffic closer to the posted 20 MPH speed limit. Worried about imbalanced traffic flows? It’s possible to meter a roundabout.
Another idea is to offer a lower first-hour rate for the “Premier” parking, thus getting some of the waiting-for-pickup cars away from the curb and entirely off Brantley.
Hey, it’s better than CRAC.
Agreed, this is what I used to do back when it was cheaper. I found it easier to park, walk in, help my friend with their bags, etc. Usually could be in and out in like 20-30 min.
Wow you’re very nice! I usually just slow down and push them out of the moving car. They already got a free ride to the airport…
Somehow I can picture you doing this. People may not realize how aggressive little can be especially when they are in a hurry.
They got any seedy airbnbs over there for cheap where the host Christina lives downstairs and you accidentally lock her out of her gate so she screams and bangs on the door until you wake up at 2 am to let her back in? Always a good time
Dude, it’s Bermuda, not the Bahamas. Sheesh!
Frontier just did a bunch of cuts at RDU. They did cut quite a bit nationwide, but RDU gets it worse than anywhere else:
Buffalo
Chicago (MDW and ORD)
Cincinatti
Hartford
Indianapolis
New Orleans
Pittsburgh
Syracuse
The cuts of the above not served by another airline are Buffalo and Indianapolis.
This is evidently business as usual for Frontier, they “throw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks”, and cancel routes that don’t catch on.
I have never had a worse experience on an airline than the one time I flew Frontier. I suppose I did eventually get where I was going but woof it was bad.
I’m happy for options but I would never fly Frontier again. I happily don’t fly much, so when I do, I can shell out for a normal airline. Also don’t have a burning desire to go anywhere on that list except maybe Chicago.
I have flown Frontier to Orlando a few times and it was basic but exceedingly inexpensive - inexpensive enough that I could justify flying instead of driving, even with a family of five. We were stingy with what we packed, weighed our luggage carefully, and got where we were going safely and more-or-less on time. I am very thankful that it was available to keep me from having to drive on I-95.
This is New Orleans erasure and that makes me sad (Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are both neat, but not “burning desire” cities for sure).
Oh, sorry, New Orleans is cool. But we went a few years ago so I didn’t include it.
Fontier will sell you a seat for $39 one way. But will make up for it with fees and everything else.
Well, not anymore…
Bait and switch. This is one you just kick to curb. Kinda like that passenger you throw out of your car while it’s still moving at the drop off lane at Terminal 2.
Nerdy RDU thread on an airline forum site (that is sometimes a dumpster fire)…For anyone who wants to follow the ups and downs RDU. Some say Frontier cuts are someone else’s opportunity, and yes, Frontier has a habit of throwing a bunch of at the wall and seeing what sticks…in terms of starting and stopping routes. Lots of chatter about how healthy the new int’l routes are doing with data, etc.
Also this likely the end of the MTB trails adjacent to Lake Crabtree Park, near RDU:
why develop the county park? Don’t like this at all.
