He was conjuring up his high school drama acting.
This opposition is all emotion and general complaints about cars in their neighborhood. I like to hear all sides of an issue, but this is just so eyeroll…
highrises = traffic
all these highrises!!!
Watching this shitshow… #jesussaveme
I’ll take that last guy’s idea of a gateway with Red Hat Amphitheater and strollway, etc etc for $1 billion dollars, Alex.
I wonder if they’ve heard of !?
Seriously tho… It’s like, we’d love to use unlimited public money to make this not impact my neighborhood in any way. Come on…
Other important point, I like Melton’s sweater.
At least that’s something actually constructive, unlike the other two “wait” and “pray for the kids”
I like the connection visuals. Very bike/ped friendly.
It’s ironic that this project is “rushed” but every other project is taking too long.
I’m feeling good on this vote with the council comments.
It’s cool to hear how large the margin of community support is for this to get approved. 400-25 emails in support vs opposition, etc. This is cutting through the noise, and finally maybe Boylan Heights and others will start to understand that city policy should be about the good of the city as a whole, not just keeping the status quo for their neighborhood. Doesn’t sound like it though. Now they just act like they’re the poor victims.
There was PLENTY of community engagement. smh
I’d say there are a decent amount of Boylan Heights neighbor’s that didn’t mind South Street closing. This was a few people trying to yell for their own personal interest against making Raleigh a better overall city.
Just passed unanimously, with lots of crowd cheering.
Moving remarks from MAB!
SAYONARA, (one block of) SOUTH STREET!
South Street will be closed…it is official.
Complaining about needing more time for community engagement is such an easy rebuke to something you don’t like. “I would’ve complained long ago if only I had known”
The pivot from Lenoir to South Street was relatively recent. But when you listen to the reasons why closing South St is necessary, it’s pretty clear this was the only path forward given Red Hat’s current iteration already has an RIP date.
Seeing this passing unanimously after all the hand wringing over the last couple months is funny in hindsight. Great to hear about the response all the counselors received via email and in public.
Now this thread goes into hiding for months while work is being done on the back-end to start making way for the new facility!
