The ground-floor bedroom suite is done for accessibility reasons – these units have to be “visitable,” which means a bathroom at grade.
In practice, they make terrific semi-public home offices, hidden-away guest suites, or sublet/STR rooms. Add a mini-kitchen and it’s what California calls a “junior ADU.”
Hearing rumblings from fairly reliable sources a brewery concept is heading to East Raleigh…not clear if it is north of New Bern or South but sounds like South.
Hundreds of breweries isn’t crazy, its civilization. Bring them on!
I am sure everyone knows the quote attributed to Benj. Franklin, “beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
The townhomes at Oak City Overlook just got listed. They are slightly cheaper than the 625 New Bern townhomes across the street, but only due to reduced square footage. The price per square foot is actually higher at $344 vs. $340, I originally thought one of these two developments was aiming to be slightly lower per sqrft $.
Either way these two developments bring a huge increase in density and potential riders to the BRT along New Bern Ave.
From redfin, it’s a very weird floorplan to get to the roof. Everyone goes through the master bedroom to go up there Not a great plan for entertaining. But I like the development.
I am confused by the stair configuration on the plans as well, but I’d rather go through the master bedroom than forgo having the rooftop terrace. I’d also rather go through it than pay hundreds of thousands more for a similar product elsewhere in downtown.
We live just across Tarboro St. from Robert’s Park, it’s my favorite area I’ve lived in Raleigh, and I have moved to nearly every section of Raleigh in some degree.
There are some growing pains currently with a large in-flux of new residents moving into newer homes and long time current residents, create a Nextdoor account in the area and you’ll see what I mean.
In terms of the location, we love the walking access all of Downtown has to offer, as well as being just far enough away to get a decent yard and garage.
I love it! Been in the Cooke/Seawell (West Idlewild) community for a dozen years and also lived in other parts of Raleigh beforehand. It’s also my favorite.
Yea, location being one of the biggest reasons. To each their own, but I find something mentally liberating about my car not being the only means to dinner, see friends or the grocery store.
In terms of kids, we don’t have any yet, but my neighbors who do, really enjoy this area because of the schools. Both Ligon middle and Hunter elementary are magnet schools and depending on how close you move to Roberts Park, you should be able to walk to both.
Another thing that goes unnoticed in my opinion, there’s tons of little parks everywhere in the area, most aren’t labeled very clear and don’t notice them until you walk right by one.
