“Contemporary” residential architecture strikes again. Nice places to live, though, and I’m a big fan of townhouses in terms of creating nicely-scaled neighborhoods.
Agreed, I like the neighborhoods that townhouses and row houses create. One thing I don’t see much of in the Raleigh, or much of the states, its multi-family homes built to look like single family homes. My sister-in-law lives in Vancouver, BC across False Creek from downtown. This neighborhood is a century old, and with the location & price of land there are a lot of teardowns. Strict zoning, I believe, has lead to replacement buildings that look like SFH in largely craftsman styles but are actually multi-family homes.
Canada must like those, I seem to remember seeing quite a few the last time I was in Toronto. It’s a good idea! I wonder if Minneapolis will pick up on it with their new zoning laws.
Yeah, at this price point I would expect an elevator. East side of downtown getting very expensive lately. Rough around the edges still for these prices I thought.
All I can think of when I hear “elevator” is obscene recurring specialized maintenance and repair costs. I’ll take the free daily glute workouts.
And climb you will because these don’t come with elevators.
you mean like this?

They are actually really simple devices, and if it means you can continue to live in your home after losing mobility, it’s a no-brainer at this price point
Wow! How fast do you think these will go?
I think so, lol. hard to tell on my phone!
I hope to start seeing more developments like these in this area and other places near downtown:
We desperately need denser housing in order to curb the housing inequity gap.

When I was riding with my parents yesterday I noticed that many older duplexes and even quadriplexes are being replaced by single family housing which is very disappointing.
Two of these have sold in less than a week. I was mistaken when I assumed they wouldn’t sell immediately.
ITB or OTB?

Its outside, this is almost at the intersection of New Hope Rd.
ITOB, right by Carlie C’s…
Thanks…I figured it was very suburban-ish looking plus when I saw a bank branch was going in I figured that section of ITB isn’t quite ready for that…
Meanwhile, in the zoning recommendations from the New Bern area planning, these lots are supposed to support 7 stories. The area around the eastern stations are meant to be the most urban, since there’s significantly less residential displacement or character concerns. This is the 7-story TOD zoning overlay:
Instead what’s proposed is setback from the street with a drive-thru and a proposed take five auto. Such a waste.
I love this city, but it really feels like the developers are too hooked on the suburban development pattern. I would love if we could get something like Inman Park or Ponce City area in Atlanta.
