When I moved to Raleigh ~10 years ago the Station was a great place for food and service, but the service declined over the years and it was just a known when we went that “it is what it is”. The location is prime and likely to succeed with a remodel. They should have no problem scooping the Standard overflow during long wait times or pre-drinks ahead of Stanbury/Crawford.
That whole intersection of WF Road, Atlantic, Capital, Automotive way is an utter mess. Whoever thought this spaghetti of roads and ramps was a good idea? The whole thing needs to scrapped and reworked. Not only is it confusing to drive, and next to impossible to cross by foot or bike, but it’s a huge waste of space as well.
This study of Capital Blvd from 2012 touches on this, but I’m assuming it was never moved forward in any meaningful way. Some of the same issues would still exist, but I think that’s inevitable when you have two exits (Wake Forest and Atlantic) so close to one another.
There’s actually a lot of things in that study I’d like to see implemented. It mentions multiple pedestrian bridges (Smoky Hollow Park to Seaboard Station and Five Points to Mordecai), which I know has been brought up here multiple times.
NCDOT will say that stuff like this (or literally any transit project) is too expensive and then go blow the GDP of a Caribbean country to add 2 lanes on a highway.
Aw man. Yeah it’s definitely nothing special but that’s been our go-to spot for Sunday brunch since there’s never anyone there and everywhere else is too busy ![]()
I went there many times when it first opened. It kind of fell off my radar for some reason. I guess it was the decent food and mediocre service, but I never really thought about it. Agreed that something better in that spot should be a success.
They had good tendies, RIP
My first thought too - loved their chicken tenders! Sams BBQ are of similar quality imo, so long as you like honey mustard. The Station had a good chipotle dip that will be hard to beat.
We need more residents. We need more walk shed sidewalk activity.
Yes, was going to comment this until I saw that you beat me to it! The landlord sounds like a lazy piece of shit, so I hope it goes unoccupied until he’s forced to sell to someone who will actually maintain the building properly.
