West End - Platform, Oldham & Worth - Development at W Cabarrus/S Saunders

Hey, maybe with our General Assembly, would be wiling to sell the “air rights” to the prison so that a developer can build at least a huge parking deck. Then they could cover it with lots of colorful… :joy:

Anyone have any info on the brewery going in across the street from Platform? Are they doing upfit work? Looks like they’ve been getting permits

Sorry I either didn’t know about this or forgot about it (it does sound vaguely familiar). Which location will this be? I know someone is doing upfit next to Boulted Bread.

Beside Boulted is supposed to be a pilates studio. AND YES more is going on across from Platform. It has been slow going this summer but I am seeing more action lately. This will be the Nickel something? Brewery when it is finished.

It’s Nicklepoint, IIRC…not sure if second location or moving operations from Five Points

From the Boylan Heights Community Post: I was just visiting Platform Apartments yesterday and they have ground floor retail space that they are looking to populate with locally-owned businesses. They told me their business model allows them to prioritize these types of commercial tenants who have been otherwise discouraged from trying to lease downtown. It could mean that our neighborhood becomes a destination for locally-owned businesses. A good message to pass along to anyone you know who might be looking to open up shop.

I see the permits issued on 8-31-23 and includes the entire 9,211 sf warehouse so looks like they are taking the whole building at the corner of Cabarrus & West. Plus adding an outdoor area. Also, maybe changing their name to “Double Decker Brewing”??

This pic reminds me of how Platform residents are going to have the luxury of two of Raleigh’s greatest decks - the Block 83 deck and Citrix decks…such premium views…

Such a lot of negativity for a replacement of some gross warehouses and homeless hangouts close to downtown, and near all of the fun storefronts in Boylan Heights with dense residential and commercial. It’s almost everything we ask for, and then even this board tears it to pieces.
It’s not even particularly ugly imo.

That’s a huge space!

Oh I do agree it is much better than what was there. No argument there. I am very glad to see Phase II starting.
