Hopefully just a test run and they’ll adjust
Maybe they did this to deter crime? Who knows.
Yuck. That was your first mistake…
There is already a lot of lighting in this area for safety, including brand new fancy street lights. The ones on the building are like spotlights and seem quite excessive. I’m hoping they’re just some kind of emergency lighting and it was a test, because they need to be taken down at least 10 notches.
I’m legitimately starting to think everything about this building has been done out of spite for the neighborhood rezoning-request backlash. I’m actually not kidding.
That thought seems to make sense.
Could someone take a picture tonight, I’m honestly curious to see how bad the lights are. I would check it out myself if I weren’t 15 hours (2 hr flight) away.
If they’re on again tonight, I’ll try to get a photo. If you’ve ever seen the equally obnoxious lights at the used car lot on the corner of DuPont and Cabarrus, it’s basically those all around the street level of Platform.
They have to be emergency lights. It’s the only thing that makes any kind of sense .
Yikes, yeah that’s terrible. It definitely makes the building look like a prison.
I hate this building more and more with each new day!
Good golly Ms. Molly this is bright. I drove by there last night just to get a feel for it and it is definitely over-kill on the lighting. I guess on “the bright side” you won’t lose your way home if you happen to live there. SMH.
It’s probably a specification issue with the bulbs. More lumens than anticipated
It definitely needs to soften its presence.
My daughter and I did a tour today of the Platform. Here Is what I learned.
- Phase 1 has 433 units. Phase 2 will begin construction in the Spring. Phase 2 will be 6 floors.
- Amenities are really good. All the common spaces you would anticipate - pool, co-working, dog run, dog wash, multi-use areas.
- There will be two maintenance workers and several leasing reps on-site.
- Two retail spaces will be restaurants along with several other smaller commercial units.
- Part of the interior court yard will be open to the public and encouraged.
- Parking for public will be offered on the ground level.
- Rent is at a base rate that has add on $$ for cable, water, electric, parking, pet fees, trash.
- They are offering rental incentives for 2023 move ins.
- One resident has moved in with several more moving in this week.
- AND YES. The Sea foam green is also used on-site. But it works better inside IMHO.
Did you by any chance ask if the 24/7 prison yard lighting aesthetic was temporary?
I see that they also seem to have a craft/workshop space that seems like a nice amenity.
I did not ask specifically about the lighting. I wish I had thought about that. But they did say that security was a top priority. They have everything locked down and accessible by fob. The garage from the second level up is gated. They said they had “hundreds” of camera that can be monitored.
YES. They do have a craft room where you can do artsy stuff and woodworking. They also will offer different classes etc.
The seaform green has been mostly covered. Drove by last week.
Here’s a video update from 12 hours ago:
Looks like there’s a new semi-complete street in town lol. Also, this is a really nice view of downtown.
The Boulted Bread neighbor is looking good. Anyone know what’s going in here? It almost looks like 3 businesses with 3 separate entrances. The middle one with the cool doors seems to belong to some design group or similar, since they have the trailer outside with the same name on it.
Separately, some good progress on whatever is supposed to be going in by the Fairweather at the corner of Cabarrus and West.
