The seafoam inserts are bad enough, but the thing that annoys me the most is that from a distance it looks like the green doesn’t align with the windows (and looks like an even bigger miss because the window frames are white and blend in with the trim)

Instead of green trim, they should’ve used the white to continuously frame the colored areas, like they did at the “wood” inserts.

Oh, I completely agree. It bugged the :poop: out of me when I saw it up close on that Dupont circle side of the building. It looks like detailing on a mobile home.

I may be wrong, but it seems like they added those trim pieces as part of the seafoam flair. You can see the absence of trim beneath the non-seafoamed windows in John’s photo.

If you were going to HAVE to paint the seafoam green, at least use the correct vertical datum line. If they had left the seafoam green trim pieces white, at least you’d have a continuous visual line that followed from the windows through the accent paint areas and onto the next window. As it stands, it’s just insult to injury.

“flair” is not exactly what I would call this mess of a design element

Even though this building is definitely odd-looking, and I believe every city has a few of them, I’m looking forward to seeing how the development activates this area. It’s such a massive building and is going to bring so much energy to this side of town.

I honestly think this might be the worst building ever built. A new low in the race to the bottom of modern construction.

The hate for this building has gone completely overboard lol

I agree, but to each their own. I just think the activation part will offset the appearance, which is difficult to imagine now since it hasn’t been completed. However, once the residents move in and the retail on the lower level open, I think the sea foam color detail won’t be as bad…

Any retail actually signed or is it like all the other apartment ground floor retail

Oh you can bet your bottom dollar those spaces are sittin’ empty for the next 3 years while they wait for their unicorn businesses that can afford whatever insane rent they’re gonna charge!

Hah! One of those places where no one, including the owner, seemed to be able to describe why someone should eat there as opposed to cheaper places with better food and better ambiance.
