So, so much better than a tower or two with view corridors to the core of downtown. :upside_down_face:

Looks like there’s a name for West End II apartment building… “Oldham & Worth”

???

This is unrelated to the name change but I have a feeling that the hold up for this project is the new parking situation. Based on what I can tell from the rendering, there is no parking included in this phase. Plus there are limited spaces given the unexpected addition of units at the Platform.

I am really having some problems with these “interesting” apartment names. I just don’t get where they are even getting these…SMH.

Would you just call it the address? Not the most evocative.

There’s 2 levels below grade or partially below grade.

I think it’s referring to a business that used to operate on the property.

Naming a building after what used to be there is fun but works better if you’re actually doing adaptive reuse. Like the Cotton Mill etc. From what I can see the developer has not bothered to preserve a single brick of Oldman and Worth building supply warehouse. Maybe just call it Residences at the Empty Lot?

EXACTLY. NO ONE. I REPEAT…NO ONE will ever in a million zillion years ever understand that name much less remember what it is called. Can you image living there and being out partying and trying to tell the uber driver where you live? “Oh yeah…I live beside the seafoam green Platform apartments…I just can’t remember the name.” SMH. WTH.

“Um… I stay at the OW/O-Dub/O and W.”

Agree. But it’s Kane. Not exactly known for great creativity. They are probably trying to check their box for “relate to the adjacent historic neighborhood.”

or maybe The Residences at the Temporary Gravel Parking Lot?

They’re not always temporary :sob:

Too bad the proposed heavy timber buildings were scrapped here. That would’ve actually had some interesting tie-in to the history of the site.

I agree. Definitely a missed opportunity.

I would call them fun and memorable names like “Fart House” and “Slob Factory” and “PeePee PooPoo 'Partments”

Platform’s first commercial tenant has been announced: Homebody Yoga is going into one of the spaces on Dupont. Early 2025 opening.

I’ve done a few of her free classes (girlfriend’s friend’s friend) - she’s very sweet and very excited.
