Laying brick!
The below wonderful picture looks like a good place for Union Station!
Just imagine what would have followed over in Smoky Hollow if a stadium was actually built here. That is the part that makes me sick. Maybe it will still work out (somehow) to get a big draw (stadium or otherwise) in this corner of DRT. Iām really curious to see if John Kane gets his hands on the Wake County property by SM3 across Capital Blvd.
Anybody that has seen the pace of the Wharf in DC knows pn hoffman is not kidding around. Hope they are happy with the Raleigh market and stick around after Seabord and Union
I was just at the Wharf last week. Itās a nice project. Can Hoffman put in a river for us?
If not, how about a vertical water feature to cover that butt ugly, ass end of the garage facing west?
That wouldāve been pretty cool, but Iād really miss all the underutilized surface parking this project wouldāve displaced.
much as I love your (very expensive) idea, I am just optimistically waiting for official confirmation of the pair of 20 story towers that were proposed @ current Loganās lot - those will most DEFINITELY hide that damn wall of parking deck from view ā¦ with likely its own, possibly even uglier parking deck - but hey until we know, we can hope (not)
Sounds like they are waiting for their new facility at 4020 Tryon to be finished first to move over there.
That building looks awesome and Iām glad theyāre well on their way to moving and NOT just closing but damnā¦ 2025 seems like a long time to wait for the redevelopment that surely should be able to get started likeā¦ yesterday
Forget the river, what about the development? Iād like to see more buildings like the ones there be built here.
I mean theyāre the ones that chose to sell. So they get to do it on their terms. Iām sure they want to have an ordery transition. And Iād prefer they stay where they are. So Iām fine with them waiting.
Raleigh 2030 : check out our Crabtree (Creek) Riverwalk (in bourgeoning Midtown) !
Just because I had to look it up, and in case anybody else doesnāt know, Loganās new location will be 4020 Tryon Road, near the Gorman Street I-40 interchange, behind the Eagles gas station at the corner of Tryon & Lake Dam.
So: from a quirky downtown business to a (hopefully still quirky) highway-oriented one near a major, but underutilized, interchange.
That seems to leave quite the opportunity for someone to insert a nursery with better DTR adjacency - maybe in the Saunders - Wilmington area on a ālargerā scale and some sort of market / nursery combo would be fantastic next to Transfer where the Sax grocery seems toāve fizzledā¦?
would love to see one up person/atlantic streetā¦raleigh iron works area perhaps?
I mean, there is one up Atlantic just over Millbrookā¦which is probably about the same distance from RiW as Transferā¦but, I could see something like that shake out in some of that industrial space around Hodges or Industrial Dr as wellā¦
That whole section of car sales lots on Wake Forest before Costco is ripe for some redevelopment, and this would be perfect there.
Yeah, somewhere back in there along Industrial (*behind Wake Forest Rd) was what I was pitching aboveā¦or even adjacent to Gateway over on Capital where the dealership used to be (now is Wake up and Read? ) could work as well. Wonāt be the same as Loganās at Seaboard per se, but could be the next version.
**I do still hope that the area where most of those car dealerships are becomes mixed use along the Midtown āriverfrontāā¦
