When you see more buildings than church steeples!
Photo taken from the 10th floor rooftop patio at The Paramount. Itâs sort of an unknown vantage point downtown.
This is a great angleâŚ
I got this video of the crane lifting some stuff to the top of the construction site a few days ago.
Is it dark blue or light blue
Light Urple I believe.
Youâd only get that reference if youâve watched some FOREIGN FLICKSâŚ
Those will be the LEDs.
Heard that they added four more floors in the time since you took those pics yesterday
The pool looks really small.
This may end up being one of the rare instances where Iâm liking how the actual project is turning out more than the initial renders⌠so much skinnier than they made it seem!
If I am understanding what you are saying, I agree that the height to width ratio is important to how visually appealing a building is. The last thing our skyline needs is a bunch of squatty looking buildings.
I do wish we could get at least one or two more buildings in DTR with a crown/spire/something on top. One thing I always hated about the RVA skyline is how all of the buildings have flat topped roofs.
I DO think that the Creamery building with its stepped backs near the top will add some variety sans spire/dome, but other variations in building apexes would be a welcomed addition to DTR IMO.
HUGE agree. Part of why I love the Charlotte skyline so much- so many of those supertalls they put up in the 90s just have beautiful crowns (the BoA building in particular, truly LOOKS like a Queenâs crown, befitting of âQueen Cityâ) - but even today, they are building towers with some really unique/interesting peaks, such as the Duke Energy building (and even the new one currently finishing construction). For all our rumbling on here about how âinsecureâ Charlotte is, they certainly can have confidence in having a beautiful skyline.
I will say the one building I truly HATE in CLT is the Wachovia/Duke Energy building with the stupid handle on top. To me it looks like what you use to plant bulbs in the garden. But Iâll take the Hearst Tower (I refuse to use the current tenantâs name) any day of the week.
Hah, weâre inverted. I think the Duke Energy Tower is really clean and attractive and the Truist Center is wonky looking and top heavy.
That said, since most of the other tall buildings in Charlotte lean towards slightly bland attractiveness, one weird tower works out for them since it isnât the tallest one.
BofA tower is the one real jewel of the Charlotte skyline. Thereâs nothing in Raleigh that compares. I do not like the Truist tower and the Wells Fargo Center is major barf to me with that giant palladian window/barrel vault roofline on top.
Now that the height restrictions have been lifted from the floor count, maybe weâll get some better crowns on our buildings?
