Always love it when a developer demolishes a 100 year old building then lets the empty lot sit vacant for an unspecified amount of time to rub a lil salt in the wound!
Probably still trying to get their building permits. The process has gotten very slow.
The demo permit has to be approved and the demo done. there is a lot going on with this site than meets the eye. ASR done, SPR approved. They had to abandon the old ROW circle also. So its on them to apply for building permits.
Wouldn’t be awesome if they got an offer that they couldn’t refuse and decided to sale?
Honestly that’d just piss me off more than I already am about this lost history…
Who cares now? The apartment project is fine and brings a ton of density while also connecting Hillsborough St to the soon to be renovated houses by Trophy. The big issue with this project to me was that they destroyed the old Goodnight’s building, but that ship has sailed.

Any updates on this project? Or just going to be another empty lot for the foreseeable future?
Right… as if it wasn’t MADDENING enough they insisted on knocking down a 100 year old building when they could’ve just as easily built around it - the fact they haven’t done shit with the land since is exponentially more infuriating.
WTH is going on here???
Absolutely nothing. A complete waste of a 100 year old building for a now vacant pit of gravel.
865 was in an unfortunate position of getting underway just in front of all the construction pricing hootenanny and inflation of the past few years. The budget went wrongway, and as far as I know they are redesigning from scratch.
This royally pisses me off…
Shouldn’t have been approved.

If this gets redesigned downward to less density or something with a suburban style site plan, I’m going to be really
Maybe it’ll get redesigned with tons of height to make the financing work better.
Financing for residential projects is not an issue these days…yet. Office is another matter.
“Dear banks, we just dropped a load of cash to demolish a perfectly fine 100 year old building and want to build a fancy apartment box that overlooks a giant beige prison. Money please!”
Well, the fancy apartment box is also smack in between downtown and State and right next to the Bend project the Trophy guys are creating. It’s a pretty nice location.
