So I know Nashville would probably be the strongest competition for an expansion bid. But they just finished a new MLS stadium and they’ve already got a new NFL Stadium in the works. They might be tapped out for a bit? Timing might be good for Raleigh in that regard.

I’ve been beating this drum that Nashville isn’t as much a home run as people think it is. For all the reasons we know (similar size to Raleigh / growing slower) and also that the city is about to spend a billion+ on the Titans stadium. I can’t imagine the appetite will be there for another. Not to mention they would also have to do something with the nice downtown minor league baseball stadium that couldn’t be turned into a MLB one.

Obviously biased, but the Raleigh pitch is pretty straight forward and will be compelling: we have a billionaire led group (Dundon) that has major league experience (NHL and pickleball involvement) with a ripe market (NC is the most notable state without a MLB team) in an area known for baseball (colleges here and USA Baseball training facility) with multiple potential locations (PNC and Downtown South) in one of the fastest growing / affluent areas in the country.

I guess I would be okay with the PNC arena too but another suburban entertainment district disconnected from every but parking will be a disaster.

Isn’t the ideal site for a BB stadium to have home plate located at the SW portion of the stadium, with skyline views being to the northeast. So ideal stadium locations could include Dix or Central Prison(?) and the S Saunders area.

DTS is the logical choice. It already has a stadium site, and the MLS bid seems dead. Might as well use that location.

Yea, I don’t understand how Nashville would be in the running with the Sounds already especially with the newish(2015) stadium First Horizon Park in DT already, RIP Greer stadium.

NIce! I really like this location. Decent access from Capital Bvd.& it’s close to a lot of new dense development. Central prison 2nd choice, PNC/DTS/Cargill sites would be a distant #3

I wonder if Cardinal Gibbons would consider being moved (again), and at what cost. Just add a few pedestrian walkways above Edwards Mill Road, and you could easily connect to PNC, use the same parking lots/decks for both
Might be more feasible than getting NCSU/State of NC to move anywhere south of Wade Ave.

Dundon helps a lot. What Raleigh has been lacking from all 5 of the actual billionaires who actually reside in Raleigh.
Corporate support & stadium are the biggies……
I don’t know that our corporations will be there when we need it. Our City Council is a shit show currently.

Yes. Get rid of the disconnected segment of Blount St only used for local light industry and you have enough space for any type of sports facility.
