Yeah that’s a fair point. It’s just going to be a long wait, and as you once pointed out, I am already quite old.

I don’t think I ever noticed the complete dearth of like any actual destinations that people would want to take transit to along this alignment until now.

But BRT is a good start maybe by 2040 they area will be primed for light rail. I think BRT is a safe investment for now to measure the waters for light rail. I do believe the area is suited for commuter rail I think the lack of TOD along the corridor did that.

That will be dependent on how much redevelopment happens. I can’t see light rail happening for many decades.

They’re targeting this area for redevelopment. Has a bunch of run-down commercial areas like New Bern Ave does.

At least New Bern has the hospital, and high existing transit ridership.

Me either, just too much pushback. I think commuter rail is our areas best option in terms of rail.

Anyone else notice the Southern Gateway Corridor Study included a “Makers’ Market” for the South Sanders corridor? Is that still in the works? Most important, can we can get a prototype of the construction vehicle /crane walker depicted in this image?

The future sure looked exciting back in 2017.

I think they saw this child latched onto their mother in fear and scrapped it

The steampunk mechanical horse (camel?) on the far right is also pretty great. Give this sketch artist a Hugo.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Residential Infill along New Bern - Edenton

Spotted bendybus running the New Bern route and marked not in service just now. It’s big!

Red bendybus? Presumably for use on the 15 until the BRT is ready, like with the 1?

There are 10 existing GoRaleigh lines that are operating at 15 minute frequencies, with some planned to eventually have 10 minute frequencies.

This is all thanks to the Wake Transit Program

It was dark and far ahead so I couldn’t tell the color. It was running the left lane down New Bern though, not stopping at the stops, so I’m wondering if they were just running the BRT route with it.

The contractors for the New Bern project received their first big check from the city last week to begin construction. :construction:
