Interesting. Did they ever talk about their reasons for moving the HQ to Austin? Wikipedia is out of date (still lists the name as SageWorks and HQ as Raleigh) and Google didn’t turn up anything.
Several years ago Sageworks was sold from the founder/majority stakeholder (who was based in Raleigh) to a private equity owner. The new owner merged Sageworks with several smaller complimentary financial services software providers that they also purchased, the largest of which was based in Austin.
The former CEO of Sageworks moved on, and while the executive team is spread across both offices, the CEO of the combined company is in Austin.
It’s a company that doesn’t get much press here due to it technically being in Austin (and tends to get drowned out there because of the enormous tech market), but a great, high growth place to work in the area. The culture has improved immensely since the acquisition because Sageworks pre-2015 was similar to Citrix here–cut throat cold call sales types of jobs. The new company really does a good job of emphasizing culture, stability, etc. with a much broader set of positions/opportunities.
While it builds its new campus in RTP, Apple wants to move into the area early and plans to renovate 200,000 sq. ft of space in an old MetLife tower in Cary:

I’m glad to see that their temp digs are staying in Wake.
My new neighbors to be. I’m really curious to see what this will look like.
The commercial real estate consulting firm Newmark came out with a ranking of best markets for life science real estate, paired together with market analyses for each market. The Triangle is ranked 4th out of 14 clusters with the following subscores:
The Triangle’s “market maturity” is low because of our relatively low amounts of venture capital funding. “Future growth” is low for us since it’s relative to Boston and San Francisco; they have a combined total of 47.5 million square feet of proposed life science-oriented developments, combined to just north of 9M sq.ft. down here.
The N&O took a deeper dive into the data, but you could also look at the report yourself since it’s not a very hard read:
Well anyone says that Raleigh and Durham don’t compete against each other here’s an example that proves otherwise: Gilead Science considered Durham before choosing a Raleigh location. Raleigh Business leaders must be schmucks if they don’t think Durham isn’t actively working to pull Triangle area business towards itself first. Hence why Amazon had to state that it was considering all of the Triangle when Durham and RTP threw a fit.
Nice! Would you mind sharing the link where you found that? Thanks
Sorry Niko, I saw it on linked in, tried to find it but it went into the abyss. It does say trans world Busines advisors on it. Whatever that is.**[quote=“niko, post:1119, topic:284, full:true”]

Not necessarily business expansion per say but a pretty good list to be on.
Raleigh ranked 18th in the nation for where the middle class is thriving.
Doesn’t explicitly say Raleigh/RTP but that’s where their Hub is located.
This does however
I do like that there is an announcement of entry level jobs to broaden opportunities among a wider audience of potential workers. I suspect that entry level is still pretty good in a market like the Triangle.
Glad to see this for Bloc 83. “ The engineering firm will take up 55,000 square feet in a new office building in Glenwood South.”

INEOS Automotive is basing its US operations in Raleigh. It is a $60B conglomerate that plans to begin selling a 4×4 utility vehicle next year.
That’s really interesting, but it doesn’t sound like it’s a ton of jobs. I wonder what really drove (pun intended) them to choose Raleigh. Maybe one of their executives lives here, or wants to relocate here?
It’s difficult for me to imagine the off-roading crowd in America rushing to buy a French vehicle, but
The person in this article thinks the startup scene in the triangle is about to explode.

You wonder if this might have any influence on their big campus they’re building in the RTP.
