Business Expansion in the Triangle

Meanwhile I go to downtown Durham at least once a week, but I am north of the beltline in Raleigh maybe once a year at most.

I’m impressed you can get to Durham without going north of the Beltline. Magic lol. :magic_wand:

Shush, you know what I mean lol. Or maybe you don’t but what I was getting at is that the whole section of Raleigh around Falls and Creedmoor etc. that I feel like many original Raleigh people hung out in during decades past.

Yep…back when North Raleigh was South of Milbrook Rd.

i used to do a bunch of delivery work throughout the triangle, early 2000s though. durhum and chapel hill and 15/ 501 always felt more cumbersome. most of raleigh and wake flowed better for me. but as far as hwy 147 then it helped.

A Tram car would be a nice addition.

Well, we are cleaning that up, I think the man in charge of the Raleigh economic Development person seems to be an aggressive guy. Which is a step forward the council of no is almost gone with the exception of David Cox. But I think were headed in the right direction but I agree this is a crucial decade for Raleigh’s future.

I think a tram car stretching from Union to PNC, completely rezoning all of downtown to 40, and abolishing the appearance commission would be a big step.

Hope so because we just got new tech job rumors but no wins in the city limits yet. Hope this AWS and SF are looking at DTR towers.

I might’ve been dreaming but isn’t Cox not seeking re-election

Completely a rumor but I was walking past City Market Thursday at lunch and there was a meeting going on in the event hall with what seemed like high up business people. I caught a glimpse of the screen and it had the Meta logo on it.

Perhaps when Meta said they’re coming to Durham they just weren’t very familiar with the area and in fact they meant Raleigh. It’s the whole RDU/Raleigh-Durham thing. So they’re taking over City Market?? Let’s get this rumor mill going!!!

I read that Cheryl Sandberg from Meta was at a meeting at City Market so it was probably that.

She is on her way out isn’t she?
How about she is “retiring” to DTR?

She had a tour of Pendo the other day as well.

Interesting. I wonder if that hints that the city of Durham isn’t in fact the decided location.

I don’t think so, most of the council is pretty young Mayor MAB is really the only YIMBY running right now, yes she had that Drunktown fiasco that was just NIMBYganda. Our park is Dix Park unless you can identify any corridors.

No she also visited Durham. However I think the Meta office will be in RTP so technically the Meta office is a Triangle win.

That would probably be a best case scenario for everyone so that Raleigh gets some of the upside and Durham doesn’t get stuck with most of the downside, ie inflated housing prices

Yeah, it would suck to have to worry about inflated housing prices. Dodged a bullet there.

Article on companies subleasing space in the Triangle (subleasing has increased obviously).
