Vinfast is breaking ground on their Chatham County site July 28. Hope to open production facility in 2025. Always good to hear of local projects moving forward.

Looks like they’re having a ceremony too out there for the occasion per their press release.

Phew, glad I never actually ate at GH then. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Is it, though? I would prefer this loser was elsewhere.

Haha I wont be out there holding a welcome sign. Hopefully they took their latest negative reviews to heart and make major improvements. If not and they fail, then maybe they can sell this factory to another EV company.

Agree that the upside would be someone more legit could move right in if the facility is ever finished.

Hey, they have nowhere to go but up. I mean, Kia was basically a joke when they entered our market, but they’re making some pretty cool cars now.

The Vietnamese Government will not let Vinfast Fail, the Company is playing the long game.

2nd death since October at Wolfspeed. Say what you want about VinFast’s shitty cars, at least no one has died at their facility here yet.

Not sure how First Citizens is not on the list given it acquired SVB.

If Martin Marietta makes one more large acquisition, Advance Auto can survive….Labcorp finally moves East out of Burlington & Iquivia gets out of NJ….the region could have a decent Fortune 500 footprint.

Maybe IBM finally gets out of boring ass Armonk? :crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3:

It would give us 5. Which is a pro-sport supporting corporate environment.

These are figures from 2022, so the SVB money is not included yet. This does take into account the CIT Group acquisition, so it’s safe to say next year FCB will be there.

IQVIA is already headquartered in Durham. And the new LabCorp spinoff is also in Durham, so the region is doing fine now.

We need as many Fortune 500s as possible. It crucial to our development.

IQVIA is really based in CT now where IMS Health’s HQ always was. That former Quintiles tower along 40 is vacant, and there’s just a few office people left along 885 in Durham (in the Q2 Solutions spinoff company’s HQ).

Ehhh…only if they are generous with their corporate community. If they are just here bc it is cheap and they aren’t a benefactor to the community, how much are they really impacting? And it’s not just naming rights, it’s funding local colleges, community groups, etc.

I’m in the camp that F500 notoriety only goes so far. I’d rather see a robust diversified economy that is growing in jobs and raising the financial prowess of the region.

The whole CRO industry is crazy. You have companies HQ’d in one space, but really the actual HQ is another place, but then the largest employment base is in another place. Not to mention that the last few years have seen the industry gobble each other up with acquisitions.

Our company (Fortune 500) moved our HQ from LA to Dallas a few years ago. They couldn’t get top professionals to move to LA, so Dallas was apparently more attractive. However, as far as I can tell, it was a paper HQ move only. Nothing has changed and our name is still on skyscraper in DT LA.

This is correct. IQVIA still references a 'dual HQ" but the decision makers are in CT & NJ unfortunately.

The Labcorp spinoff will only have $3B in Revenues…about 1/2 of what is required to make the F500 list. Labcorp is ‘sort of’ in the region but ideally having execs IN Raleigh/RTP would be best. Their CEO is not even based in North Carolina.

So at the moment we only have 1 truly HQ’d company: Advanced Auto…which if you have seen had a big earnings miss.

First Citizens ‘should’ make the list given the fact it is now one of the 15 largest banks in the US.

But that’s it for now.
