Business Relocation/Economic Expansion

I’ve discovered a good way to at least miss the Maryland traffic when traveling between Raleigh and NY…but I’ll never tell!

Back on topic, I do concede the point that with the Triad being an enormous logistics hub, that highway expansion is needed there. Some rail expansion would be nice, too!

Is it I-81? I’ve done that route a couple times, especially when I was a broke college student trying to skip tolls on my way home for Christmas.

Of course, the best way to skip traffic between here and NY is to take Amtrak

It would seem to me that a comprehensive look at increasing manufacturing in the Triad should be coupled with improvements to ports on the coast and access between those ports and the Triad. In as much as that pass-thru traffic bypasses the Triangle, the better IMO. That said, I am also open to that access being rail based instead of truck based.

I-81 on Sunday nights is wall to wall trucks headed north. Use to take that to DC when I was doing lot of IT contact work in DC. I soon learn to either start north after lunch on Sunday or wait until Monday mornings. Next meet-up ask me about the night I got back from DC in 5hr in what is normally 7-8hr depending on traffic. Just do not report me to VA state police - LOL.

Whoa! I thought “$40 billion” had to be a mistake. That is insane. 5,000 to 10,000 jobs if it goes through.

I don’t have access to the whole article but I think the Chatham megasite is in western Chatham. Is this at a site in eastern Chatham?

The TBJ article mentioned southeastern Chatham county near the Lee County line. So I’m assuming it is the Moncure megasite.

First Citizens officially closed on its purchase of CIT; creating the 19th largest bank in America.

Sure would be nice to have a homegrown bank with their name prominently displayed on our growing skyline…

And it would have to take the 121 Fayetteville site and outdo Truist and PNC in height of course. Because pride.

You’re correct. Formerly known as the Moncure site, the name was changed to Triangle Innovation Point in order to focus marketing of the site to the tech and life science sectors.

Only a 20 minute commute from parts of Apex.

Who is the manufacturer? Intel?

The article says sources would not confirm the identity of the company, but said it was a US chipmaker. Texas, Arizona, and California also competing for the project.

Speculation it is Micron Technology.

"One of the best things about Raleigh-Durham is how spread out everything is. People can get where they need to be.”

I’m confused, I think she meant there’s room to find what your looking for, not ease of transit.

Ah yes, because when I think of a city where everything is easy to get to, the phrase “spread out” comes to mind. :man_facepalming:t2:
